Avian Species in Bas-relief by tekelili Avian Species in Bas-relief by tekelili
Wow, time to post on DA. Been very busy lately, and DA's fallen through the cracks.

But here's a carving of a bird monster. Some sort of bizarre love child of Garuda and Tash. In bas-relief.

I found Tash utterly terrifying when I read The Last Battle, he's an infinitely more frightening villian than the Ice Witch ever was (although in the first book, as Jadis, she was pretty impressive.)

Love to see someone make a decent job of a film or dramatisation of that book one day rather than another 'Lion, Witch and Wardrobe' outing - but I gather it's regarded as too racist these days.

Somehow, Tash was an incredibly impressive character, who got himself deeply ingrained in my psyche due to childhood readings of those books. He was legitimately scary as a kid, but at the same time, fascinating.

I'd heard that the makers of the recent film version of the Lion, witch and the Wardrobe were going to carry on with the other stories, but, if they do, I'm curious how they'll handle the whole Calormene topic.

It feels a little like Tash, from the Narnia Chronicles :D

I was just thinking it reminded me of Tash before I read the description. It's very intimidating!

I'm not sure why, but Tash is an all-time favorite literary being. XD

One of these days I need to try my hand at drawing a "Tashlan".

I would love to see that! I think Tash's appearance taps into some primordial well of the human psyche. I'm pretty sure it's the same one as the Skeksis, some kind of fear of carrion birds combined with a deep-seated attraction to powerful beings.

Hmm... On second thought, perhaps I just have too much time on my hands. Ignore me. ^^;
