These are some of the ducks I made for my first real Donald Duck application to Egmont in Copenhagen (December 2002).
When I got feedback on my application they told me that they were interested in following my development as an artist but at the same time they pointed out that a lot of training remained before I could reach a publishable level. I got a script for a 3-page comic they wanted me to draw and ink. When I got feedback the Art director said that I was an artist with potential and that my enthusiasm for my work shone through. He also wrote that I needed to work with the construction of the characters, that they were too stiff and flat. (And he was absolutely right)
I have learned a lot as an artist since then, and I know that I still have room for improvement. And my desire to draw the Disney ducks professionally is as strong now as it was when I made my first application.
