FABULOUS WORK BY ALL ARTISTS!

Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara

Note RULES FOR SUGGESTING:

DO FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST THE WORK OF OTHERS, AS YOU DEEM THEM TO BE SUPER AWESOME, AND BELIEVE SUCH WORK SHOULD BE FURTHER VIEWED!

1. Suggest up to TWO, maximum, (in a comment below), MUCH Preferably Work of OTHERS!

One is fine, TWO is MAX.
It is preferable that you suggest ONE work PER EACH Artist. :) (Smile)

2. The work should NOT have more than 299 fav's at the time that you suggest the work.

300+ fav's on a work, may certainly be awesome enough to be even further viewed, but we are mostly looking for work that should have more attention.

3. Neither you nor the artist, need to be a Member of this Group,

Note but feel FREE to Join! Aww

4. All-media is welcomed; MOST subject-matter is, too - simply use a good judgement.

We've not had trouble with this so much in the past, but I know other types of news articles in other groups have, so I just thought I'd mention it.

*** Depending on how this goes, I may have to stop at the first 10 or 12 suggesters, but we'll just see how this goes and flows, for now. It is NOT a rule at the moment. I need to keep in mind what is manageable for me, in order to attempt to continue this. I am not certain what that is at this point.

Lastly, if you feel like suggesting, go right ahead... and your suggestions will be reflected in next month's dAWishingWell 's 2018 Treasure Chest!

:iconspreadmoreloveplz: :iconspreadmoreloveplz::iconspreadmoreloveplz:

ATTZ. of GRATZ. #2

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 11, 2018, 3:19 PM

We informally began "ATTZ. of GRATZ." HERE:

You can see the Gratz at the bottom of this feature! ;)

I admit I didn't think it would amount to anything, participation-wise, though I did invite participation. It's just considering everything we are all involved with, not only on dA, but in LIFE in general, I figured who had the time? Right?

However, no matter how or when or WHY you are doing gratz, it is said that it is said that "Gratz" is one of thee most beneficial regular activities that one should make time for. I do strongly believe this. Especially for me. And *sharing them*?

Well, Seeing other people's GRATZ, well that is an extra bonus beyond sharing what I can explain the benefits of at this moment!!  But it helps in a further way.

First I would like to take *just a couple* of the previous gratz from last time, and find a few pictoral images to feature along with them, if I can:

We had several mention cats, or their own cats, so here are a few cats:

CURRENT "ATTZ OF GRATZ aka Attitudes of Gratitudes"

If you want to participate, you can do participate even if you partiipated last time.

In other words, you can participate as many times, as I am able to host this!!! We think of more Gratz all the time, after all, it's always a new day, and we think of new things that we are grateful for, or if not, we try to. That is the "exercise" behind it.

You are more than welcome to read how this got started at the bottom of the previous journal:

A Very Special Feature, Plus Attz. of Gratz.

It might be helpful. Since we had six people officially mention some GRATZ, I thought I might try this on some semi-regular basis, AS ABLE. I will not commit to exact which day I will do them on or how much time will past in between. Those who know me best, know it's best that I shouldn't. Plus next week I will be focusing on  "The Treasure Chest" for dAWishingWell. So I'll likely be waiting longer to do this again.  But *maybe* that means more people could have a chance to share their Gratz? Well we'll see.

So you can name just 1 or 2, or even up to FIVE!! :la:

Tea's "ATTZ of GRATS"

I'm grateful for...
 1. for my glasses- but this is a challenge for me, and  I have a hard time. :la:
But at the same time, due to the trigeminal nerve that branches down the front of my face and is related to my Migraines, it is difficult to have anything touching my face. Although the various pairs of glasses are very lightweight, but it doesn't matter. Any weight bothers my face/head, but I have to have them to see, and I can see, so I am struggling with trying to feel GRATITUDE for my GLASSES!!! :)

2.When things are quiet

3. That Autumn is coming

4. Abby, companion animal (cat) in training

5. Being able to put together something to eat when food in the house is low. It's creativity!

In Honour of Giving Thanks by TeaPhotography

So ONLY If You Wish, It's Your Turn to List Your GRATZ, in a COMMENT Below!

That's not all. It's important to remember ALL of the dA Support since the beginning, from August-September of 2010, when it began until now. This includes various ways to help the project, which so many people have done here on dA and are called:

dA AFFILIATES

You can find a list of them down the left-hand side of my Profile Page.
Sometimes this list is not always up-to-date, but I always do my best, and have done much better in recent times.
PLEASE, if you feel you belong to the list of dA AFFILIATES do not hesitate to drop me a line.  :)

There are too many to list them here. But this milestone and journal is in honour of the dA AFFILIATES as well! :la:

dA SUPER AFFILIATES

There is usually ONE main difference between dA AFFILIATES and dA SUPER AFFILIATES.
These people have made direct artwork purchases or direct donations on bahalf of The Project, itself, thus generating immediate monetary funding. (There have been upon occasion honourary reasons for including someone in this category).

Remember, you can find anything you want or need to know regarding The Project here:

and so, by scrolling toward the bottom you will find a listing of all art products available for purchase on behalf of the project.

Thank you ALL, as ever! :thanks:

The dA SUPER AFFILIATES are also listed down the left-hand side of my Profile Page, but to be certain that you all understand that this milestone and journal is truly in honor of ALL the dA SUPPORT since THE SHELTER PROJECT was born on deviantART, I will include those names here:

Now for something different, for everyone: ATTZ. of GRATZ.

or more readily understood: Attitudes of Gratitude.

I have been consciously and literally practicing "Attitudes of Gratitude" since the late 1990's. - about 20 years.
It first began on an old chat site in a galaxy far far away... and then a book by M.J. Ryan titled: "Attitudes of Gratitude"...
Call it an activity, a practice, a therapy... call it what you will- but all I know is that it is a positive "thing", and that I don't do so well in general when I "get away from it"... it doesn't come naturally for most human beings to actually
"live a life of gratitude" 100% of the time, but to consciously strive for it, helps in a tremendous way.

Nowadays, there are tons of books, workbooks, and ways to practice and live with gratitude, out there.  I think that's great!

I have a "FIVE A DAY" paperback journal, and it comes with uplifting-type quotes to give food for thought about gratitude in general. I have gone back to this journal this Summer, and I'm grateful for that, though admittedly I still haven't done it daily.

Is 3 x a week acceptable? That's about where I am. And I think it's okay for the moment, because I have kept up with it, with that frequency on a regular basis. And I'm the only one who can say if it's "acceptable", anyway.

I thought trying it here on dA might also help. Maybe by posting something like this publicly on some regular basis, would be another way to keep me tied to the concept of practicing and living Gratitude.

And... perhaps, if anyone wanted to share THEIRS in the moment, they could if they felt like it. I personally, am going to AIM for five, but I know that even having ONE thing to be genuinely grateful for in a day, is good enough.  It's not necessarily about how often you "do Gratz" or how many Gratz you have...

it's really about, teaching your mind and heart to get into the habit of going toward what's good in life or in particular your own life, when there is so much that is seems not so good in life, and in the world, in general.

So, if you feel like it, feel free to share your own GRATZ in a comment below... at least one... or up to five. I know that your own GRATZ, would make me smile! GRATZ are positive, and positive energy is contagious! :)

Here are mine; I am grateful for:

1. Music- I do not know what I would do without it.
2. When I notice people helping others.
3. Flowers- they will never cease to amaze me.
4. My nieces, MJ, DD, and BB.
5. Cats, mine, yours, all cats- they truly are amazing creatures.
Mine help me feel happy.

A Mid-Year Update On The Shelter Project

Journal Entry: Wed Jun 13, 2018, 6:58 AM

Introduction

I've mentioned a few times in the last couple of months that I would hopefully be doing a mid-year update on "The Shelter Project".  It is especially in regard to one aspect in particular that has been suggested by two of our dA Affiliates, which I believe is completely appropriate! Along with it, I think about two other additional items would be suitable for this update at this time.
However, before going further, for those completely new to "The Shelter Project", then a HUGE WELCOME! :icongrouphugplz: And for those who need a refresher, or know the project but missed the official comprehensive update, you can find it here:
:star: Update of THE SHELTER PROJECT, 2018 and Beyond...
It's long because it needed to be. The previous update had not been made for several years, and not only did much need to be reviewed, but there were many new things to add.
So, to make it easier, one should simply scroll to the section or sections that they are most interested in.
The project is eight years old this August 2010! It was actually born right HERE on deviantART!  After a couple of years, it gradually moved into the local communities. However, I am happy and very proud to say, it has never lost its footing here on dA, its original home, thanks to its many caring supporters over the years.
We will forever be grateful for each and every single person who has ever supported "The Shelter Project" here on dA (and anywhere else) however they have done so.  After all, there's a variety of ways to help this small but valuable valient project of ours that serves the medical needs of domestic animals.

:iconhappysunplz: :iconhappysunplz: :iconhappysunplz:

Mid-Year Financials

First, I'd like to give you some perspective. By the END of 2017, "The Shelter Project" made about $250 USD, in total. Let's take a close look at the three previous years.
In 2016, "The Shelter Project" made $455. In 2015, the project earned $535.  And in 2014, it earned $500. Between, 2014 - 2017, the project earned an about an average of $500.00 USD. They were the top three years, of the seven complete years ever.
Why did 2017, take such a downward turn? Simply put, it was a year riddled with many personal challenges.  My focus was on learning new ways on how to survive my own medical issues.
I had some trouble reminding others that the project really did still exist, and a bit of trouble with ability to create as many works, or mainly as fast, along with the fact that I was not able to be online to promote the project its products, here on dA.
Additionally, for the first time since I know, the shelter did not have their annual "Mutt Strutt" event, where I have my ONE  booth a year, & earn just over 1/3 in total sales for the year.  (I have no clue yet, if they will hold the event this year.)

However, rather than see 2017 as some kind of loss, earning half of what the three previous years had earned, I try to see it as a type of gain for those who did participate with me and in spite of my conditions, and especially for the animals who got whatever we could give them!
Please remember, it is NOT my project. It never has been. I only conceptualized it, and then it took on a life of it's own.  It is the dA Affiliates' and dA Super Affiliates' and the local supporters' project. Because without  ANY of them, there is no project, and the existing project, ceases to exist.

Okay, so we are right about mid-year 2018, and "The Shelter Project" has earned $237 USD.  Verbalizing strictly numbers again, at this point, it would be awesome and ideal, if we could actually double that number by the time December 31st, 2018 arrived. It would be pretty cool for us to get close to the $500 mark again.
Between 25% and 30% of this current $237 USD, earned thus far this year, is from dA Super Affiliates right here, and the rest from the local supporters.
I realize that much of such a goal rests on me, where dA is concerned, my ability to upload enough jewelry works that anyone might find interesting enough to purchase for themselves or as gifts.  But let's not forget the slew of photo products that are also available, and the photos that can be used for them already exist in my gallery.
Take a look :eyes: at the list of photo products available right near the bottom of the official 2018 update here:
:star: Update of THE SHELTER PROJECT, 2018 and Beyond...
On the other hand, we all know I am no entrepreneur, and that this is "The Shelter Project" - a small but helpful project for animals with medical needs, & spays and neuters. So whatever we can earn by the end of 2018, I know that I will be exceptionally grateful on behalf of the animals.

From Your Donation of Points

This is the section, where I've had interest expressed to see how a certain "sub-project" was unfolding on behalf of "The Shelter Project" with points donated since about December of 2017. When you donate points, as the points pool states, please leave a message if you want it to go to "The Shelter Project".
If you don't I will choose, if I need it to go to the project, or if I want it to other things on dA. Often times when there is something in particular going on for the project, I will use the undetermined points, for "The Shelter Project".
Since around October 2017,  I was approached by certain employees and employers of the shelter, (South Coast Humane Society) expressing their wish to have the walls in the lobby, and partway down at least one hall, (and now the restroom), brightened with photo art.
This was happily accomplished a few years back, with the help of donated points from dA, and we did just three walls. I took photos & created a journal to show it on dA then too!
In present day, a couple of the same photos exist, plus I replicated just a few of the popular ones, for they had been purchased, plus one of the directors amid a big turn over of them in the last 4 years or so, had taken down what had been left without telling anyone, and broke the frames.  I was not able to fix them at the time, nor did I put them back up. But, I've been repairing them as I've been working on the new prints and framing, since 2018.
Back in October, when I was asked if I could do this, I said that I would, but that it would take some time to get such a (larger-than-last-time) project going.  But I did, by immediately setting aside points for "The Shelter Project" specifically for this, which I was able to do beginning in December of 2017.
They are are 11x14 prints ordered via YOUR donated points, and framed with my own money with dollar store frames. I am nearly done at the shelter- approximately 3-4 more to round out the map we made, and 1-2 more for the restroom.  So between 4-6 11x14's are needed for the shelter.
We'll talk about the other location shortly, but I wanted to give you an idea of what the points, that OUR generous point donors, have been able to physically make happen, while I have hung them, little at a time, since February, 2018.

Facing the front entrance doors this wall is on the right. This has always been the original wall where we've tried to keep photos.

This is along the same wall but beginning to go down the hallway, past the main cattery room and toward the dog kennels.

    Untitled by TeaPhotography
This is on the opposite wall close to and also adjacent to the front entrances of the shelter. A mixture of photos, even to include one that demonstrates some of our amazing sunsets!

Untitled by TeaPhotography
This is on the same wall but farther back and above the kitten intake area. It was their idea to put a few of my kitten photos above the door to the kitten room. I thought it was a great idea!

These three show the photos that are hanging above the front entrance doors to the shelter. You can see bits of the parking lots through the windows. These  reflect the location of the shelter, a bit of who and where we are, including some of the wildlife in our area.

These are behind the front desk, which faces the entrances. Just some brightly coloured photos representing other beautiful creatures in our area.
(Please :note: All photos of the framed prints above are simple, super quick snap shots, completely unedited, taken fast during opening hours at the shelter.)

The other 4-6 11x14 framed prints they are hoping for,  would be half dogs/cats, and  half flowers, which we've never had at the shelter before.

Now about Redwood Wellness Center, (for humans) who made a connection with "The Shelter Project" in a sincere effort to join forces to establish the concept to support both human wellness with animal wellness- the totality of a concept right up my alley, considering the completeness of my overall experiences.
I actually already have MOST of the 11x14 photos ready for that location, thanks one again to the point donors behind "The Shelter Project" - but again would need about  6-8 more for this location to complete the map.
However I would begin with whatever points might be available, and finish purchasing for the shelter, in order to complete that project first.
I have not actually begun to hang any of the photos that I do have ready, at Redwood Wellness Center, mostly because I've been busy at the shelter itself, among other things, plus the owner of the business, had needed to finish getting her own clearance to paint from the owner of the building.  That's been done. The place has been painted.
I have permission to begin hanging the first six photos. We are looking at the best times that won't interfere with healing treatments.
Nothing like the banging of a hammer to ruin a good healing session!
Most of the photos are various trees from my gallery, given the name of the center, and there will be some flowers, too.
This is new territory for me, and the politics are different. I don't have as much free reign as I'm used to at the shelter, but it is working out so far, and I am very pleased.
Anyway, it will probably be a while, but of course I'd hope to get some photos of this place, too in order to give an idea of how it also looks, like I've done here of the shelter itself, so you can continue to know what your points in 2018 are mostly going toward.
One other small item. I've purchased some 4x6 postcards with your donated points, which will be set out very soon this summer in these same locations. I have purchased sleeves for each. This is a new product. I am curious to see how it goes.  If anyone on dA is curious about them, feel free to ask, or contact me by email, for details.
Thank you all so very much for your help and TRUST in donating your points to an eight year old established very worthy cause that aims to help animals. It is always nice to be able to SEE what your points, or other means of support, are doing to be of service! If you ever want to know more, please email me with your questions or concerns!
And I am completely and utterly ever so grateful, and forever will be.

dA Affiliates & dA Super Affiliates

I get questions about these terms a lot. So definitions...
 What is a dA Affiliate of "The Shelter Project"?:
A dA Affiliate, is a supporter of "The Shelter Project" from right here on dA, as opposed to a local supporter, who has done any one of a number of things to be of service to the domestic animals in need through the project.
One most often way has been placing a Custom Box advertisement with a couple feature photos on one's Profile page, or advertising via a journal, or a portion of one's journal. Some people have kept up their Profile advertisements for several years!! Though sometimes, they do update them.
Another very common way is through donating points.  Certainly there are other possible ways... one is some people have opened their OWN points pools strictly for "The Shelter Project" and then turn them over to me periodically. Really generous!
To know who are our the dA Affiliates of "The Shelter Project" are, you can find them listed on my front profile page, on the left-hand side, the 2nd and larger section down. There are too many to list them here. :)
 What is a dA Group Affiliate of "The Shelter Project"?:
A dA Group Affiliate, is any dA Group who sees fit to support "The Shelter Project" by placing a brief advertisement somewhere on the Group's profile page, who creates a journal about the project, who requests any official news article to their group, and who donates points- which has happened from several groups. So far, to the best of my knowledge these groups are:

:note: If I have missed your group please let me know!

 What is a dA SUPER Affiliate of "The Shelter Project"?:
A dA SUPER Affiliate, is a supporter of "The Shelter Project" from right here on dA, who, about 90% of the time, makes direct purchases of the many photo products and the many jewelry products available, thus creating donations directly for "The Shelter Project". A dA SUPER Affiliate is automatically also an Affiliate.
(I need to take out their names from the Affiliate list, clean up repetition on my profile page, since they are already listed as SUPER Affiliates.)
Approximately the other 10% of the time, people either make direct donations to me via PayPal, which go directly toward promotional productions, like pens and rack cards, and definitely toward things like printer ink, (SO expensive), and jewelry supplies- such as the new side cutters I had to purchase, to name just a few things. Extremely useful!
Within that 10% are also a couple/few people who have generated enough support which will gain direct donations in at least quite soon. Our extremely generous dA SUPER Affiliates are:

Quite a few of these SUPER Affiliates are repeat customers, which continues to melt my heart over and over that they would stick with the project in this way, as long as they have. Yet even a one time purchaser, always amazes me, because they've found something of interest and it delights me beyond measure because it's a win, win for everyone. And once a SUPER Affiliate, always a Super Affiliate.
The other thing I have found interesting over the years, is how many people have said, "Oh, my daughter, (or whoever) would love this!" and so about 1/3 of the time, people are purchasing as gifts for others. This warms my heart, too, because I like to imagine the story they tell to their giftee about where the proceeds their gift went to, making it that much more special.

Once again, if you've not seen the most recent comprehensive official news article on "The Shelter Project" it is right here:
:star: Update of THE SHELTER PROJECT, 2018 and Beyond...

Due to the length, scroll to the section/s that most interest you. It is near the bottom where you will find the lists of products.
One of the newest photo products is the photo journal:
A Notebook for-The Shelter Project by TeaPhotography

This is the first one I had made, for a customer who agreed to be a guinea pig! I had a second guinea pig, who chose a photo of Sha-Sha, my cat, and it's already been sent.
But, I took photos of it, and hope to make a similar collage for you to see! :)
The next new photo product I hope to get into by the end of 2018, would be bookmarks!
I've also been experimenting more with designing some simple but cute and pretty hair clips, within the jewelry line. I wear them often, but I haven't take new photos ... yet. ;)

:iconhappysunplz: :iconhappysunplz: :iconhappysunplz:

In Closing...

In closing, I sincerely hope this mid-year update on "The Shelter Project" was helpful to you. If all of this was new to you, and you made it through *this* article, then congratulations... it's a lot to take in.  For everyone else, I can never thank you enough for being such a huge part of a project that does deliver, at the end of every calendar year. If you think your part has been, or is small, please do not think such a think.
You are not alone in this. You are part of a whole, a team. And when each part does anything, that is what contributes to the larger picture. So thank you for your own part, and for anyone's continuing part... for I will continue this, as long as I am able, and for as long as I have people here at home base on dA, still willing to help out.
Remember "The Shelter Project" was born on dA. It's our project for as long as we keep it. I am ever grateful for you all, on behalf of the animals that we are able to help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

OUTSTANDING WORK BY ALL ARTISTS!

Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara Glass Star Bullet (Green) by Gasara

:note: RULES FOR SUGGESTING:

DO FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST THE WORK OF OTHERS, AS YOU DEEM THEM TO BE SUPER AWESOME, AND BELIEVE SUCH WORK SHOULD BE FURTHER VIEWED!

1. Suggest up to TWO, maximum, MUCH Preferably Work of OTHERS!

:note: but feel FREE to Join! Aww

Bouquets and Bouquets of Thanks and Gratitude

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 21, 2018, 6:35 PM

The order of the following people, for who this journal is dedicated to, is random- it is in no particular order.

This was a random, rather impromptu- thought of journal, to do as a dedication in honour of quite a few people.
Also, please understand that... well, usually, I dislike to name people in a big dedication because inevitably I will leave someone important out. These are just coming to me from the top of my head, and those who know me best, know that this is not the best way for me to do things :XD: ... so, this dedication is NOT limited to those mentioned. There are definitely more than who I've been able to name. This dedication is for those who have done something in fairly RECENT times, to show some certain kindness... to me for certain, but as well as my notice of them also being kind to others:

Please don't feel slighted if I wasn't actually able to name everyone that I've been thinking of... YOU know if you've done something kind to me, and/or to others, and I do know it as well, but wasn't able to name everyone who I would have wanted.

So, sometimes people wonder why they are being thanked... What are you being thanked for?

Any number of things... the range is so wide... this is a mass thank you to those who continue to be supportive in a variety of ways, such as a simple kind comment or fav' on a work of mine, your patience with me- something that is sometimes more obvious with some than others- and yet I know that patience can be very difficult, which is why I value it so highly, those who have been extra helpful to me in a number of ways in regard to my medical issues, those who have been extra helpful to me in a number of ways in regard to "The Shelter Project" which completely helps me feel like I have a true job that contributes- without that help, my medical would make me feel "less" somehow, those who write me in email, or even send me real mail through the actual antiquated postal service... all of you... all of it, AND EQUALLY IMPORTANT, is when I notice your kindness in your support of OTHERS, besides me. This is very important to me, as I value kindness BETWEEN all peoples, and wish with all my heart that there was more of this.  Thank you ALL so very much... from the bottom of my heart.

:iconpinkflowerplz: :iconpurpleflowerplz: :iconpinkflowerplz: :iconpurpleflowerplz: :iconpinkflowerplz:

I know that a flower feature, might be thought of as something not so creative, but personally, I don't get tired of seeing flower photos, and a big point of this journal is that, if I could in real life, send a BOUQUET of flowers in the name of thanks and gratitude to those dedicated above, (and even MORE, who I did not get to name), I would love to do so.
This is my alternate way of doing that:

My personal truth my history with flowers (and other plants) and about colours and flowers:

I have always LOVED and adored flowers. I used to study them, and the meanings behind each type of flower, as well as the meanings of the colours of flowers as well. I even used to study them, along with herbs for their many medical properties within a much more comprehensive 18 month course work called: "Energy Healing and Alternative Therapies" whereby I inherited the name "Tea" because of my favourite part of this overall coursework being the healing properties of flowers, plants, and herbs, especial within the format of tea.  I was apparently quite overtly passionate about it, and so my classmates and friends began to call me "Tea" which fit perfectly anyway, as I had always been called "T." anyway, due to the first letter of my other name.

Before I came to deviantART, over a decade ago, I would always say that though I loved all flowers, and colours of flowers, that YELLOW and ORANGE were my favourites. Yellow, because it seemed to be the happiest cheeriest colour of flowers, and orange, because of the vitality and strength I felt from them.  My favourite flowers though, of that time were Sunflowers, all varieties, but especially the more traditional giant yellow faced ones. I used to grow them where I lived before, and I was able to grow many of the taller than the roof of my house... and often I would harvest the seeds... a MAJOR job to be sure, and then I would bake them. Yummy, and healthy, too. My other favourite flower had been the Shasta Daisy! Oh gorgeous! I know that they are white, but their utter purity and feeling of angelic protection felt very strong to me. They were the happiest flower, in my opinion.

However, about within two years of coming to deviantART, I began to realize through all of the gorgeous photos of flowers from all over the States and the WORLD, that it was more like, my favourite flower was the one I was viewing at the time, kind of like the line from the song that says, "Love the one you're with!" :giggle:

I'm almost afraid to admit, that I used to think roses were a bit overrated... again until I came to deviantART, and now I just can't get enough of them... I think they are amazing and gorgeous and I can't help but love them... and then I saw RED poppies for the first time EVER, but still only in photos, as wherever I have ever lived, we have only ever had the Golden Poppy along the West side of the USA, but from Western Canada down to Baja California. It's actually California's State flower... I always loved the Golden Poppy as well, but, after seeing red poppies, only in photos, I love them just as well. :D

Now I also love purple flowers and blue flowers just as much as yellow, orange and white... and the colour of pink in general has traditionally been my least favourite colour, however, due to a great exposure and love of flowers, I have been growing to love pink as well.  In general, not having to do with flowers necessarily, my two favourite colours remain to be purple and green. :)

My Thoughts About Flowers:

:bulletpurple: Flowers are the one of the top epitomes of nature... how can so many different types and colours of gorgeous creations pop up all over this amazing Earth... and for us to enjoy as Natural eye candy. They are a wonder that never ceases to amaze me. (Though trees, and the growth of trees, have the same affect on me.)

:bulletpurple: Flowers "say" a lot. Given as gifts they have great meaning of love, friendship, thanks, apology, expression of sorrow or comfort for the loss of someone deeply loved, and just to randomly brighten someone's day! Flowers have the ability to communicate between people, like almost nothing else.

I would simply like to choose a few of my own floral photos, to share with you, in the finality of this dedication

:note: but feel FREE to Join! Aww

Thank You SO Much For Helping dA

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 23, 2018, 3:24 PM

BIG Thanks Goes to Michelle lucytherescuedcat For Her Great Efforts in Helping Us Here on dA

Many of us here on dA have reported difficulties in creating our journals in recent months, mostly the type that feature the artwork of others, whether on our own Profiles, or as Journal Writers for Groups.

What has ended up happening is, once we have put in MUCH effort to carefully place each thumbcode for each work of art, (or drag them in- however each of us may do them), and then look with "Preview", and see that everything looks great and in good order, that with the final official posting, so many of the works of art that we spent time putting into the journals we've created, are just GONE- disappeared.

I have even received notes and comments that certain people that I had featured, got notifications, and they went to look, and didn't see their work there, as intended, because it had disappeared. Literally. It has been difficult for me to explain why this has happened to these people, when I myself do not know why.

I do know that it is frustrating for many of us who like to showcase the work of others, when it takes a lot of time to put together such journals, only to have half of the work just up and disappear. It is not only frustrating, but disappointing and confusing, both to the those who make these journals, and to those who are notified, but their work isn't there to see.

For me, creating a journal, is like a work of art unto itself, and so I have felt those feelings mentioned above very strongly.

Another very kind and super generous friend of mine, linked me to something that she thought might be helpful to me.

It is an article by Michelle lucytherescuedcat  Here it is:

To me, Michelle lucytherescuedcat has done an excellent job of trying to explain what to do with GREAT sincerity and patience, ending with the concept of how we all do need each other, something I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY agree with.

Now, if I can understand this, I believe many others will be able to as well. However for those of us with little to no experience with certain terminology and HTML, and the concepts of switching back and forth from RICH TEXT to HTML or even concepts of copy/paste, and where I would then be using another tab, or window... some people will still have some difficulties.

This is too bad, because no matter how much techy stuff we know or don't know, many of us still do like to create journals, and would still love to be able to do this with ease AND fun, with as little trouble as possible. Hopefully this will get worked out soon, so that all of those who like to make journals will be able to do so again.

I also know what it is like to be busy in one's own personal life, be involved in multiple groups on dA, even being founder of more than ONE at a time, and trying to keep up with everything else on dA, and that is why I admire Michelle lucytherescuedcat for figuring out a way that we can create our journals, and taking the time to help us, given everything else she does on dA. To thank her, I would like to feature some of her work:

Michelle lucytherescuedcat is also the founder of the following groups:
MyLovelyPet :iconmylovelypet:

CatCatalogue :iconcatcatalogue:

Best-SnapShots :iconbest-snapshots:

She also works in two other groups! It is MY personal opinion that we might consider supporting her groups by joining, OR sparing a few points to them, due to her great efforts and time spent to support the rest of us.

Not only do I thank Michelle for her efforts in trying to help us all on dA, but I would also like to thank her personally, because I was finally able to do a journal and have it turn out correctly- my latest journal for dAWishingWell

You can see it here:

Thank you Michelle! It's people like you, who keep dA going as well as possible.
Thank you for caring about dA and it's MANY Members!

She is doing a most excellent job as founder... and it is NOT easy to take over an existing group as founder the way that she did. (Believe me, I know!) But she has done well, and has made the transition very smooth for the group!
And in case you don't already know this, our new-ish founder is also VERY talented:

I am pleased to say, it is a project that is to benefit "The Shelter Project".  Meanwhile, I have added a couple of photos to the original 2018 update, which I had forgotten I had.

Meanwhile have a beautiful rest of February to everyone who may see this!

Welcome to dAWishingWell 's February 2018 TREASURE CHEST

:iconspreadmoreloveplz: :iconspreadmoreloveplz::iconspreadmoreloveplz:

As I mentioned in last month's New Year's Edition, we weren't going to take suggestions quite yet, but that if I could get to do a February Edition, (I made a "wish" that I could do it! :giggle: ), but that in Feb. I would begin to take suggestions! Last month's Treasure Chest:

The Well's Treasure Chest - A New Year's Edition
(Though it appears as though the last few featured treasures have been deleted, so I'm sorry for that. There's not much I can do about it, but move forward!)

What a fun surprise for me to have suggesters!  THIS was MUCH more fun, to realize the enthusiasm for The Treasure Chest, and the subsequent suggestions as a result! :la:

So I am certainly happy to include these suggestions!

:note: RULES FOR SUGGESTING:

DO FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST THE WORK OF OTHERS, AS YOU DEEM THEM TO BE SUPER AWESOME, AND BELIEVE SUCH WORK SHOULD BE FURTHER VIEWED!

1. Suggest up to TWO, maximum.

One is fine, TWO is MAX. We can't include as many images per news article as we used to. Sorry!
It is preferable that you suggest ONE work PER Artist. :)

2.  The work should NOT have more than 299 fav's at the time that you suggest the work.

300+ fav's on a work, may certainly be awesome enough to be even further viewed, but we are mostly looking for work that should have more attention.

3.  Neither you nor the artist, need to be a Member of this Group,

but feel FREE to Join! :aww:

4.  All-media is welcomed; MOST subject-matter is, too- just be at least fairly tasteful; use a good judgement, is all.

Lastly, if you feel like suggesting, go right ahead... and your suggestions will be reflected in dAWishingWell 's MARCH 2018 Treasure Chest!

Update of THE SHELTER PROJECT, 2018 and Beyond...

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 27, 2018, 2:49 PM

 Welcome One & All to:

"The Shelter Project" Update of 2018 (and Beyond...)

You simply can not know the immense amount of work that you, your  own very selves as The dA Affiliates and The dA Super-Affiliates, have done for the domestic animals of  "The Shelter Project" throughout the last 8 years!  You can and should be very proud of yourselves.  Things like this always remind me of the saying: " It takes a village..." and, in a case like this, this has definitely been proven, time and again. On behalf of the animals of "The Shelter Project" thank you with *our whole collective heart*!!

HISTORY :

"The Shelter Project" began August of 2010, eight years ago this Summer!

The last time I was able to create a proper informative journal on the project, was near to the beginning of 2015.  You can locate it here:

It is obvious, at least to me, why this journal here NEEDS to be as informative, and as detailed as possible- therefore, LONG.

No one, whether you are already familiar with this 8 year long project or if it's brand new to you, needs to "take it all in" at once!  BUT, it truly does need to be very comprehensive as - and contain as much of all the info. in a SINGLE location, as possible.  So, onward we go...
"The Shelter Project" was first introduced with this image here:

If Only: The Shelter Project by TeaPhotography

I had previously begun volunteering my time with Foster Care Groups, County Pounds, & other Shelter systems, since January of 2008.  I did a wide variety of things... and already learned a lot about these lovely beings.  But the thing that struck me the most was the immensity of their medical needs, and of course, the real necessity for spays and neuters.
Then something happened and I could no any longer actually GO to these places quite as often, or even donate my own money that had been coming from a different (and more traditional) type of income at this point.
So, my newish (at the time) passion already had a kink in it. The real problem was... that I was hooked, and bent on figuring out what I could to continue to help these innocent shelter animals with what they needed.

It finally hit me near the beginning of Spring 2010! I decided to JOIN two of my passions TOGETHER!  My love of art, and creating it, WITH helping our domesic animal friends!  I worked on the idea and chose ONE product to begin with at the time:  Photo Greeting Cards.
To this day the photo greeting cards on behalf of "The Shelter Project", remain a fairly popular item, though not quite as much as they used to, and I believe this is for two reasons:
1. Less and less people actually communicate by writing in, and sending cards to family and friends, and technology continues to take its place. (On a personal note, I can't let this "age-old" art of *writing letters and in cards* die! I've been doing it since I was a wee thing, and still it is my preferred method of nonverbal communication, equal to texting, which of course is much more modern!)
2. Because of how much "The Shelter Project" has grown and expanded, now there are approximately six photo product items, and about eight types of products from the jewelry-line, and many more donating consumers have shown their interest in a few of the photo product items, such as tea/coffee mugs, for example, and they've definitely shown a huge interest in items from the jewelry line.
Ironically, the photo greeting cards themselves are so much improved over time, given both better skills as well as better materials, that it is practically embarrassing when I think of the first two dA purchasers (therefore dA Super-Affiliates) of  "The Shelter Project" when they very excitedly wanted to show their support of this new Project, and received the first batch of photo greeting cards! :blushes:
After all, nowadays, the photo greeting cards have gone through several evolutions, to become quite a lovely product.

I introduced "The Shelter Project" on deviantART near to August of 2010, and by the end of the month, our first two SUPER-Affiliates were born:
JocelyneR  and philippeL .

Now at the time, I honestly do not recall if I had named the project or not... but besides becoming Super-Affiliates (through making direct purchases of products on behalf of The Project), both JocelyneR  and philippeL advertised it like crazy, and the news truly spread like wild fire here on dA, and soon, somehow, it was being called: "The Shelter Project".  I honestly do not know WHO began to call it that, but it caught on, and "The Shelter Project" along with its name, was born on dA, by the end of August 2010.

Which Animals do the proceeds go to?

In the first year, the end of 2010, (a partial year, actually) the proceeds went to an animal care facility in Central California.  But after moving to the Southern Coast of Oregon, in April of 2011, the proceeds have been delivered to South Coast Humane Society: South Coast Humane Society
These animals most often consist of domestic dogs and domestic cats,  but this shelter has been known for its involvement in helping to care for certain feral cat colonies in the area, by at least feeding them, and sometimes when possible, humanely trapping and having them spayed and neutered. We have had an informal TNR (Trap, Neuter/Spay, Release) program off and on in the past.
Unfortunately, due to the controversial nature of the subject, such a program  has not always been official.  Within such informal-type programs, other types of animals have been rescued and helped in some way or another- this is true even if the humane society simply facilitated the best place for such animals to get help.   Such animals include, but are not limited to: ferrets, bunnies, seagulls, and horses.
This type of shelter is, and always has been as far as I know, a privately funded non-profit shelter, therefore funded solely by private donations.  With less and less government programs/money helping the government operated facilities, these types of private facilities become more and more necessary.
Animals here are never euthanized for space, nor age, nor do they euthanize for illness or disability unless such few cases do warrant this as truly being more humane for the animal than by trying to keep an ongoing suffering animal alive, after all known options have previously been implemented.
South Coast Humane Society designed and built its own medical room only just a few short years ago. Though small, it is on par with many veterinary clinics. We have always tried to retain a vet and vet tech of our own, for specific things, such as the monthly spay & neuter clinic  available to the public and their own pets, as well as our own- but in between times the humane society has worked closely with the town's bigger veterinary animal hospital for anything from the spays/neuters and a wide variety of medical needs, including some quite invasive surgeries.
Even when having our own vet and vet tech, we use our town's bigger vet hospital for particular medical things.  As you probably already know, or at least have guessed, vet bills are very high!!! But the shelter has always been committed to the spaying and neutering of our own animals before they leave the shelter  through adoption, to good homes. It has also been committed to a high standard of quality medical care for all other issues.
The goal of "The Shelter Project" has always been to have your very generous direct monetary donations or donations via art work purchases, (which also generate direct monetary donations) go specifically to spays/neuters and other medical needs.  I do my very best to ensure that this is what happens.
While the shelter surely does need funds for other things, it is because of the reasons I initially began volunteering my time etc. for such places, since back in January of 2008, that I continue to want the donations to go to spays/neuters and other medical needs.
Therefore, I continuously be certain that this goal remains true!

Fiscal Calendar Years, 2017, 2016, & 2015:

First of all, the program earned $70.00 in donations in its 1st full year & 4 months- $30.00 was donated to the first place where I volunteered in California, and $40.00 was given to the 2nd place, South Coast Humane Society.  This is because the move between the two states occurred in between, so nothing was technically given out until the end of 2011, after all, the first place in California was a different system- a county pound, so for some reason they could not accept monetary donations, but could accept donations in the form of items.
Each system of animal facilities runs very differently from each other, even in more  ways than we may think.
So actual funds were not given out until the end of 2011 - the $40.00 to SCHS, where donations have continued to be dispensed ever since.
Thereafter "The Shelter Project" began to earn more, then quite a bit more, enough that by 2015, the decision was made to go from 25% to 30% of the purchases, whereby the rest, as always, goes right back into all materials and supplies for the photo products and the jewelry line, in its own separate account
I cannot and do not personally make any profit.
2015, was the first really big year, where the jewelry line had been introduced about halfway through the prior year of 2014.  And with 30%, "The Shelter Project", the project earned $500 plus dollars! The same occurred in 2016, as well!!
Then, 2017 was a very different year.  As a few of you may know or remember, this was the year that my illnesses and disabilities became too overwhelming to bear, not just at home, but in any public way, including online. This was precipitated by an actual medical occurrence at the end of October 2016, which then triggered and affected most of my other medical problems, in a very big way.
I was not physically able to upload nearly as many works in general, as I always had in the past, nor did I upload ANY new works of jewelry. However, there are still quite a few pieces of jewelry in the named sub-galleries, that I do still have for sale, even nowFeel free to take a look:

teaphotography.deviantart.com/…

The other thing that unfortunately did NOT happen was, that it was the first year that at least I could EVER recall in the history of this humane society here, where the annual "MUTT STRUTT" event did NOT take place, since they began the event.  This is where I usually make almost half of the total donations, (and most of the rest from dA Super-Affiliates, and then just other people I know, that are not on dA).
There were several reasons for this, but in general the best way to explain it is that there had, and have been a lot of changes occurring within the shelter, many of them political, and a lot of turn over in directors, other employees and even volunteers.
As a result of the above two main reasons,
in 2017, "The Shelter Project" earned $260. for the medical needs of the animals at,
South Coast Humane Society,
only about half of what it made in the previous two years
STILL, I myself need to consider those two HUGE reasons of personal medical issues, and the fact that the ONE REALLY BIG EVENT that is self-hosted once a year didn't even happen in 2017.  So, I do believe it is  a still quite a good amount of donation money.

While there were a few purchasers and money donors from dA, (THANK YOU!!!), this time the majority of the donations came from locals purchasing items right off of me, or the bits I was carrying around with me!  This was a VERY BIG and lucky surprise!

Hopes & Plans for 2018, and Beyond

I have begun this year medically stronger, though things are and will remain sporadic and quite unpredictable.  This is simply and specifically due to the nature of such illnesses that I deal with.  I will not always know which parts of my life, this will affect the most.
That being said, I am involved and will need to remain involved with a few various types of medical therapies, in order to maintain any health on any functioning level, for however long I live.
These therapies alone, will still take more time from me and away from deviantART than in the past years, but I DO HAVE HOPE that I will be around dA more in 2018 (and hopefully beyond) than I was in 2017!!! Hurray!

I have organized most every piece of jewelry I've made into two types of bags so that they will always be on my person or at least the 2nd one would be in my vehicle.  I am going to try this method out for at least this new year of 2018, rather than allow it all to take up space in my teeny home on hanging devices and presentation bars, when there's only been ONE booth event per year, (but none in 2017).  There were times, last year in particular, this worked against the Project.
But due to what I DID sell right off of me and from the samples I did carry, in 2017, gave me the idea to have everything with me at all times.  This won't usually include photo products, but  the "promotional kits" really push the "photography" side of things, and the products that can be purchased from photography, (not to mention the continued use of "Tea Photography" as my 'name').

The aforementioned many-changes and turn-overs, have seemed to settle down by now, which is great news!  Hopefully, the humane society will retain this stability for a while, because I have heard that there WILL be a "MUTT STRUTT" again! YAY!!! But please don't quote me. I've never been the official spokesperson for the event, (OR the shelter itself, for that matter).  I've only run the photography and jewelry booth at the event.  And I DO very much so look forward to the event, when it hopefully does happen, in 2018.

Next, I've already begun working with our new director and our newish receptionist on an "artistic make-over" for the actual lobby area of the humane society. Some of you who have been with or aware of the Project for a long time by now, MAY remember when we first displayed actual hands-on artwork at the shelter, and how exciting that was... because :points: POINTS donated by YOU, the online Affiliates or Super-Affiliates, were what originally and STILL makes this possible.  YAY!
(Oh no, I used to have photos in STASH, with links to them somewhere, -sheesh- to show what this looked like, and show The dA Affiliates and The dA Super Affiliates what both their support via monetary help and :points: helped to do for our lobby there! - I think once we've mostly redone the place, which will take a bit of time- the first few months of this year, I will see if I can do new photos and link them to STASH from THIS new update.)

Well, one of the directors during the time of the major "turn-overs" had taken down half of them on one-side of the lobby in order to do some construction, and we never put them up again.  This PLUS the MUCH BETTER NEWS of selling several of theses 11x14 framed art works of dogs, cats, and other animals, has made the lobby look very... strange,
with a whole half completely white and blank, "too sterile" or "not homey" or "not very relaxing" (quotes from a few employees & volunteers) and several blank spots left with nail holes visible on the wall that DID retain the other half of the works, where sales were made.  Plus, photo mugs that we ( dA Super-Affiliates and I) also provided, have become somewhat bare as well.

So... We would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!  to have more 11x14's prints (I frame with cheap frames from some of the direct monetary donations), as well as a few mugs.  Such photos themselves, would again be made possible with your :points: POINT donations!

With what little space is left over, at the shelter itself, we plan and hope to include a few photo products that I create on my own, such as the greeting cards, as well as, plans for thematic jewelry displays every two weeks or once a month.
The latter will especially require a lot of time and work on my part, not just in the creation of such works- (at the moment, I have plenty of jewelry pieces, 85% of which have never even been uploaded to dA for you, yourselves, to have a look at! *faint* - but I hope to begin to change that, little by little), but the effort and time it will take resides with creating the thematic displays themselves.  Other than "The Friendship Rings" (which have been a HUGE HIT since first introduced to the jewelry line, both here on dA and locally), we have never displayed any other types of jewelry- which NOW will also be with me/my vehicle at all times, as previously mentioned.

So, :points: POINTS from you all will be a HUGE help with the aforementioned photo products, (and possibly other photo products), that are obtainable through deviantART, in order to actually earn real monetary funds for the animals at some point, through sales.  So now you can understand exactly how :points: POINTS can and DO help. YAY, again!!

As to the future of the Project in general, I hope and plan to continue to do this with the help of many, many others, as long as there are these innocent domestic animals with medical needs, and in need of spays & neuters, (with my own medical health-permitting, of course).

.:Thank you little bear:. by Chipi-Chiu

Besides :points: Points, How Else Can You Help "The Shelter Project"?

This IS, and ALWAYS has been, a VERY SIGNIFICANT QUESTION!  This leads us to the very next two sections...
