GRAE V2 Ch.20, Peace. Greyson’s eyes opened slowly. He could see blue sky, with intermittent clouds strewn about the sky at random. The day was very bright, and he could see birds happily fluttering in the morning air.
“Where am I? Am I even alive anymore?” Greyson wondered.
“Oh look, he’s awake,” a woman’s unexcited voice stated from next to Greyson. He lay in a bed in a completely unfamiliar room. The woman wore her blonde hair back in a bun, and was not older than thirty. She wore an official-looking uniform; the uniform of Vale’s Police Department.
“I’ll get the others. Stay where you are,” The woman ordered.
“Can I go, my team doesn’t know where I am,” Greyson asked, thinking about how much Azure, and the others, would be worrying right now, especially with his scroll broken.
“No, we’re retaining you for questioning,” the
GRAE Christmas “Are you two going to stay like that forever, or are we going to go unwrap presents?” Rusty asked. During the night, Greyson had rolled over to hug Azure from behind in his sleep, and the two lay there. Azure was awake, but Greyson still slept.
In horror, Greyson retracted his arm and pulled it back to his own body. “I’m so sorry,” he said.”
“Huh? No problem, I was comfortable like that,” Azure responded. Ember looked like she was about to be sick.
Team GRAE walked together down to the lobby where all the presents sat under the giant Christmas tree. Just outside the door, Azure stopped Greyson by tugging lightly on his sleeve.
“Mistletoe,” she noted, pointing up at the entryway.
“I-- uh, it’s quite an interesting plant, isn’t it? It’s actually parasitic, commonly growing on apple trees,” Greyson stuttered. He felt Azure&
GRAE Christmas Eve[The following takes place between Volume 1 and Volume 2]
Greyson watched calmly out the window as the snow drifted to the ground. Overnight, the entire campus of Beacon Academy received half a foot of snow, which covered everything in sight like a blanket of cotton. The day was young, the Sun only having been above the horizon for a few minutes. In silence, Greyson sat. To add to his mood, the day was one of his favorites; Christmas Eve.
Later that morning, many students of Beacon Academy wandered about the campus, making snow angels, engaging in small snowball fights, and building snowmen. Raven had nearly completed her snow faunus, complete with cat ears and a fallen tree branch for a tail. Rusty built a slightly smaller snowman a few feet away. Ember smirked slightly while throwing snowballs at Rusty’s back while he was turned away, and began innocently drawing patterns in the snow with her glove as he turned to check who threw them. Meanwhile, Greys
GRAE V2 Ch.19, Skyefall Greyson sat on his bed, once again reading the note he had received. He folded it, and slowly slid it into his pocket. He stood up, and peered out the window onto Beacon's moonlit campus. He walked to Azure's bedside. Like Rusty and Ember, she was deep asleep.
"Azure, everybody," Greyson quietly announced, careful not to wake them. "If I die tonight, know I did this for your sake, but do not fault yourself. In return, please keep fighting, for me." Greyson silently walked out the door.
The night was dark, no stars visible. The Moon hung in the air protectively, a slim crescent, much like Azure’s symbol. Greyson remembered what he was doing, and why. After tonight, there would be no more nightmares. Whatever lay in the dimly lit alley was the last threat. Live or die, Greyson would save his friends.
Greyson stepped into the alley, Blitz and Nimbus in hand. Upon entering, a familiar, arrogant laugh broke the silence. A laugh satur
GRAE V2 Ch.18, Hand to Hand Days passed since Team GRAE had met VRDE. Greyson had already become accustomed to Pierce’s brutal honesty, Dustyn’s complete and utter lack of filter, and Ezelia’s all-around eccentricity. Both teams sat around in Team GRAE’s dormitory, discussing among each other the new problems the Vytal Festival faced.
“Pierce, you know how you used to train me in hand to hand fighting? We should do that again,” Ember suggested, changing subject after a slight pause in conversation.
Pierce nodded. “I guess we could, whenever we have spare time.”
“Greyson’s joining too,” Ember added pointedly.
“Huh?” Greyson mumbled through his half of the blueberry muffin he was sharing with Azure. “I think I’m fine in combat for now.”
“You’re great at fighting with weapons by your side, that much is established, but without B
GRAE V2 Ch. 17, Pierce VerdiThe following takes place in the Spring before the events of GRAE.
Pierce sat in the near dark, the only light in the room birthed from the fireplace. Shadows danced under the influence of the large fire, throwing frightful shadows around the room, yet Pierce took no notice. He sat in what used to be his father’s chair, in what used to be his father’s first-floor city dwelling, in what used to be, in some sense, his father’s city.
A knock at the door broke the silence. Pierce looked up from his book, set the bookmark, and stood up. Knocks on the door this time of evening were strange to Pierce. Cautiously, he slid his weapons, two UZI’s, which could revert to the form of bladed tonfas and short swords, into the holster on his belt.
The three knocks came again. “Mr. Verdi, I know you’re in there,” an unfamiliar voice declared. Pierce decided the tone was not threatening, but not particularly friendly. Mo
