GRAE V4 Ch.8, Unease. Four huntsmen huddled in the corner of a broken building’s second story. The only light cutting through the night was from the moon, eerily hovering above. A massive black Grimm, larger and bulkier than an Ursa ravaged the last hope for the group of huntsmen. The monster stood flat on the ground, staring down the four while tearing away chunks of the wood and concrete building with both arms and jaws.
“It... it’s all over, isn’t it?” A woman reflected hysterically. She held her head in her hands, her wide open eyes leaked tears. “Our weapons are broken. This is where we die. It’s over.”
“I don’t want to...” A man protested, holding the woman in his arms. “But, since this is my last chance, I want you to know I’ve always loved you.”
Just then, the Grimm paused its advance. It roared in anger and pain upon realizing its right arm had been severed just b
GRAE V4 Ch.7, Strength. “Azure. You’ve seemed a little off all night. What’s wrong?” Greyson asked, setting down his airship flying instruction manual.
“Well, I mean, I love you SO much...” She began.
Greyson’s heart sank, and his thoughts began to race. “Did I do something wrong? Is she breaking up with me? I don’t want to lose her. Please. Please don’t tell me she’s breaking up with me...”
“...But when we leave Beacon, I’m still arranged to marry Vladimir. I don’t want to. I want to spend more time with you, but I don’t know if that’s possible.”
Greyson was relieved. “Hey, we’ve got over three years before that. We’ll find a way.”
“Oh, I hope so. I know we’ve only been together for like... a few months. But do you think we’ll end up getting married?” Azure asked.

GRAE V4 Ch.6, The Right Hands Greyson, Rusty, Azure and Ember gathered around Raven’s bed, watching her lay silently. Raven had not moved on her own since her fight in Amity Colosseum three hours prior. Azure had checked Raven’s vital signs, and no alarms had been raised. Her aura had been completely expended, but she was healthy.
Suddenly, Raven began to stir. He eyes moved underneath her eyelids, then opened slightly. She raised her right hand and rubbed her eyes with the back of it.
“Raven! Are you okay?” Rusty excitedly asked, getting closer to her.
“Wh-what am I? Where.. happened? Hungry...” Raven mumbled, rolling herself off the bed, not quite in the real world.
“I’ll grab her a snack,” Greyson offered. By the time he returned, Raven was sitting upright, mostly aware of her surroundings.
“S-so... what exactly did I do? Last I r-remember, Stahl hit me. I didn’t b
GRAE V4, Ch.5. Awakening.**This chapter will make MUCH more sense if you read the first chapter of DARK.
Pierce and Raven stood in the preparation section of Amity Colosseum, awaiting their next battle. Though no battle currently took place, a monotonous drone of cheer still filled the arena, attempting to drown out Raven’s thoughts.
The thoughts were too strong. “What if I mess up in front of everybody?" she thought. "Will my team think I’m weak? Will Rusty still like me? Why did I do this? What if I end up online?” Raven breathed deeply, trying to control herself.
“There’s a reason I picked you, Songbird,” was all Pierce said.
“And now for our next battle, please welcome Pierce Verdi and Raven Corvis from Beacon Academy!” Professor Oobleck welcomed. The crowd’s monotonous drone became a decided cheer.
“Hailing from Atlas, welcome Stahl Furzen and Peri Winkl
GRAE V4 Ch.4, Past and Future “Ladies and gentlemen! For battle one of the Vytal Tournament’s second round, please welcome Lycana Addams and Cedric Wood, from Shade!” Professor Port announced. The two walked out as the audience cheered. The pair seemed to be from completely different eras. Lycana was a tall, slim girl dressed entirely in tight, lime green and silver clothing. The front inch of her hair was lime green. Beyond that it faded to black.
Cedric seemed to be eternally hunched over, dressed in light brown shaggy clothing. His equally shaggy dark brown hair fell past his shoulders, and a single white feather stuck out at an angle. He already his weapons in each hand. From their position, Greyson and Azure could tell they were tomahawks.
“And from Beacon Academy, please welcome Greyson Skye and Azure Ozeen!” Port continued. Music began to play as all who watched cheered. In between a few seconds of guitar riff, the stands would cha
GRAE V4 Ch.3.5, Loose Ends Team GRAE walked back to their dorm with Team VRDE, both teams still excited from their win in the Vytal Tournament’s first round. A group of three girls rounded the corner, talking and laughing loudly. Unaware of their surroundings, they nearly bumped into Greyson.
“Oh, wait! You’re Greyson, right?” The middle girl asked. “The one from the battle yesterday?”
“Yeah, that’s me,” Greyson replied.
“Ohmigoodness! He’s even cuter up close!” The girl to her left declared.
“Can we PLEASE take a picture with you?” The third asked.
“Well, sure. But Azure and I are actually dating, I’m sorry to disappoint,” Greyson said. After some minor protests, the four took a picture.
“Do you know who you’re going to take with you to the second round?” The middle gi
GRAE V4 Ch.3, A Brief Vacation Instantly, years worth of memories came flooding back to Ember’s mind. She met the little blonde haired girl two weeks into second grade. Having noticed Ember always sitting alone, Lissa introduced herself. Ember blew out eight candles, as Lissa grinned in the background. Ember rode her bicycle through the forest with her friend by her side, her long crimson hair flowing behind her in the wind.
She remembered the day her parents did not come home. She remembered lying alone on the bed that night, confused, wondering what she had done wrong. “I tried to be good, why aren’t they coming back?” The police came to her door. Her parents would never be returning home.
Ember spent her time absently, gazing off into nothing. She became prone to fits of anger, lashing out at her only friend. She got detention. She was suspended. Lissa went home with a black eye. Ember was not allowed over anymore. Lissa stayed wi
