Two-factor authentication is now open to all

You may have noticed a new option in your account settings recently. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now available to every DeviantArt account, including those created through Google, Apple, or Facebook. By popular demand, we've expanded access beyond Core Members, and it's worth a moment of your time to set it up yourself or learn a bit about it.

What is two-factor authentication?

2FA adds an easy step to your login. After entering your password, you'll verify your identity through an authenticator app on your phone. This step makes it significantly harder for anyone else to access your account, even if they have your password.

2FA expanded to support social login users

If you signed up through Google, Apple, or Facebook, you can now enable 2FA directly on DeviantArt. You may already have 2FA active on those platforms, but enabling it on your DeviantArt account separately adds another layer.

Important: Never share a 2FA code with anyone. Not with a moderator, not with support, not with someone claiming to be from DeviantArt. No legitimate request will ever ask for it.

How to turn it on:

Head to the Security and Privacy section of your Account Settings to get started. Full setup instructions are in our Help Center. Don't forget to save your recovery codes. They're your last line of defense if you lose access to your authenticator.

We recommend enabling 2FA even if you've never had an account issue. It's worth it to put these prevention steps in place, and it only takes a few minutes.
