Transform your presence for the Masquerade

In this season of dressing up in costumes and masks, step into another persona by commenting with a different avatar.

For a limited time, exclusives you've purchased can be used as your new "mask," displaying on the far left of comments instead of your usual avatar.

If your current purchases don't fit the dress code, grab another exclusive and join the fun! With the click of a button, you'll be able to toggle between commenting with your current avatar and commenting beneath the mask of an exclusive avatar.

How

🎭 Check your Exclusives for one that could be used as an avatar. If you want to wear a new "mask" to the ball, head over to the shop and buy a new exclusive avatar just for the occasion!

🎭On October 21, find the Mask icon inside all of your comment boxes. Click it to choose your new avatar!

🎭Step into the ballroom and roleplay! Any and all new comments you make across DeviantArt can be with a different exclusive avatar. 

Note: Your changed avatar will not be visible in other deviants' notifications. They'll have to "unwrap the candy surprise" by clicking through and seeing the comment in context to view the full mask!

For the duration of the event, the avatar next to your comments will remain "masked" until you change it again. Want to change it back to the avatar you have set? Simply click the "Use Profile avatar" button.  

All masquerades must come to an end, and this is no exception. When the clock strikes 11:59 on November 4th, your "masked comments" will be unmasked, and all your comments will go back to displaying your currently set avatar. No crystal slippers left behind here!

Behind the Mask: Here’s some ways to unleash your creativity and truly step into a masked character in the ball:

• Roleplay in comments: Weave tales and create dialogue with other masquerade attendees. Who will you meet in the crowd?

• Create art as your character: Give your exclusive avatar a voice! Upload art, stories, or poetry that reveals a piece of their world or a scene from their night at the ball.

• Create a mask for others to use: Make an exclusive just for this event! Get yours in early so the mask-wearing attendees have as much time as possible to wear your avatar!
