Tribute to David Hockney

David Hockney passed away on June 11th at the age of 88, leaving behind a body of work that reshaped how artists think about color, light, and the beauty all around us. His influence can be seen in the works of generations of creators, including many in this community.
[DEVIATION]
He borrowed inspiration from the greats and wove in his own style. Mixing Francis Bacon's boldness only more cheerful, Picasso's cubism but more round, and Matisse's bright color with more adherence to shape, Hockney made art that evokes a lightness, positivity, and a deep pride in his subject matter.
The artist spent his life painting pieces that seemed to suggest that all glimpses of life, no matter how commonplace, can radiate joy.
From sun-drenched California pools to sweeping Yorkshire landscapes, he depicted beauty with bright colors and confident shapes.
