I can't understand Princess Celestia's choice for the liaison to the griffins. Sure, Filigree knows griffin culture and etiquette, but she is not only an outcast and considered a traitor, but "cursed" and as such is basically scum in the eyes of the griffin nobility. Sending someone of that standing and yet demanding that they be treated as an honored guest is just about the greatest insult, to them and their culture, imaginable.

It's almost as if Princess Celestia is trying to start a war.

Part of the problem is that she tended to lean on the Element Bearers as her primary liaisons to other groups, thus she turned to them as heroes and the "face" of the pony nation. Given Filigree's familiarity with Gryphon culture, Celestia assumed they would look forward instead of moving to the worst aspects... something which she was wrong in. Celestia isn't perfect, she makes mistakes too. Of course the fact the Gryphons requested so serve in that role....

That makes sense. I just assumed Celestia was manipulating everything and I just hadn't figured out her goals yet.

Celestia is smart, don't get me wrong, and an expert at maneuvering things behind everypony's back, but she's not perfect. Tho looking back I coulda sworn I had noted that Filigree was the requested liason. Re-reading it I hadn't. Oh well... Minor oversight, but an oversight none the less....

>And then Galaxi... she didn’t realize it, and I thank Celestia she didn’t, but I THREW that screwdriver at her.
-Wait, really ? Well, don’t quit your current job to go play in a baseball team... -_-

>when they invasion happened
-‘’the’’ (small error)

>Any surface I hit with my hoof, body, whatever, causes a chemical reaction with my coat, which in turn causes an explosion.
-Gambit, is that you ?

>“I’ve talked to counselors, Princesses, experts, idiots, friends...
-Heh. ‘Idiots’. Somewhat funny.

>but the letter from Apple Bloom requests you come as soon as possible.
-Huh, wait a second ? It was made clear, in the previous story, that technology had developed quite a lot and stuff... don’t they have faster means of communication too ?

>“it is a wonder I have not gone insane from paranoia.”
-‘’Time to take your medicine, Princess ! Here’s a delicious cake.’’ ;)

>“Dear Princess Celestia,” the voice started again, “somepony is knocking at my door... wait, why did Tome write that?
-That’s some simple humour, but it’s always appreciated. :)

>Nightmare Night songs they play, when they take a filly-hood song and make it weird and unsettling.
-Couldn’t help but think of this : [link]
Even today, this song is ‘fantastic’. ;)

>He kept muttering about somepony named ‘Uncle Blueblood’ the entire time.”
-*mildly surprised and interrogative GAH!* ...and, the nephew’s name is ‘’Tantrum’’ you say ?

>“Bullhorn always compared leading us to herding cats.”
-‘’Herding’’ cats ? That’s a thing ? I mean... herding cats ?
It’s as somewhat funny as it’s somewhat confusing me, for some reasons.

Things are pretty much relatively interesting overall, so far.

Well, Gambit 'technically' can charge any object of small to about medium size... which then explodes relatively shortly after being thrown(or when he stop touching the object).
That's why the description made me think, a bit, of him.

Doesn't help that Galaxi could just pluck it out of the air psychically. ;)

Doh, that's a hit right to the dictionary.

As far as I know, Gambit charges cards. Now admittedly, I ain't been following X-men for a very long time, but I based Bottle Rocket's power off a character I made for an old RPG game I named Impact. Tho he got a slightly worse version of it, given the recoil.

^_^ Idiots was supposed to get a chuckle.

The main ponylands do, but remember, the Unregistered are a good bit behind the curve tehcnologically due to their separation from Celestia's rule.

It made me chuckle, so I left it in there. :)

While not intentional, it's close enough for government work as far as the song goes. Admittedly I keep thinking of twisted versions of Twinkle Twinkle thanks to too many horror games.

*LOL* yes, that agent's name was Tantrum. Admittedly, I loved the name myself. Just struck me as all sorts of funny.

Herding cats is an old country saying down here in the southern US. If trying to get a group to work together is very difficult, it's "like herding cats".

And I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. I'm sure I'll find SOMETHING to piss you off with eventually. ;)

No worries, tho in Bottle Rocket's case, it's because his coat itself is charged like that...

Well... Bottle Rocket certainly has it pretty rough then, here's hoping he'll be okay till Clockwork gets back.

Also, I'm worried about what that trap for Filligree is trying to do...
TCPolecat7's avatar

Aye, Bottle Rocket legitimately has it worse that Clockwork, even if it's technically the same problem. I won't say more about BR as it may spoil future plot points.

As for Filigree... you'll see the extent of things next chapter.

Personally, I have a theory about the trap involving the ''missing griffin brother''.

Well he also had everyone around him die, I'd say that's an additional seperate problem on top of the inability to move past the war.

Hmm, I guess I will...

Well, at least it could be a genuine cause for depression on top of PTSD, ne?

- Polecat
Levia-the-Dragon's avatar
Indeed. though PTSD is pretty genuine all by itself.

Trixie is Celestia's new student huh? I guess being a god-like entity gets lonely, so why not have a seemingly immortal being like Trixie as a companion. Also the relation"ship" between Clockwork and Impact is very interesting, maybe he will become one of the new elements? Hmm this is an excellent way to spend the break between seasons.

*chuckle* I will only say "you'll see" in a lot of cases. but the Trixie/Celestia Student/Teacher angle was brought up in the epilogue of the previous book, so that was put into action here.

Looks like she found her outlet. :D
I guess the way people help themselves is by helping others. ;)
Trixie's comment about them reminds me of a joke I saw on Cowboy Bebop. XD
TCPolecat7's avatar
TCPolecat7Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Sort of. Considering she was pulled away to go away, she can't be as much of a help as she wishes she could, ne?
Yeah, tho Clockwork's response wasn't so kind.

- Polecat
BnGJessie's avatar
No and that must certainly be frustrating. I know I've always been frustrated when a friend of mine needs help and I'm not able to get to them. :(

No, it wasn't, but it was understandable why she blew up at Trixie. It's only matter of time when Trixie's mouth will get into trouble if she can't control it or cork it in circumstances like that. XD
TCPolecat7's avatar
TCPolecat7Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Aye, and that's pretty much where Trixie and Galaxi are, being Clockwork's closest friends among the group. Some days I wonder if I was a little too nebulous with the group, as those three seem to click better with each other than the rest. But then, no one said they have to be together ALL the time (tho that's what CW and Galaxi did for Trixie).

And yes, it's understandable, even Trixie got that. It's one of the reasons she beat herself up so badly a bit later. She slipped, fell back into that old comraderie again, only to have it reminded that something is still very wrong.

- Polecat
BnGJessie's avatar
Yes. Until Clockwork can figure it out, it'll be incredibly difficult for things to go back to normal for her and all her friends when dealing with her. :(

I like it honestly. There's no reason the group has to be on equal terms of friendship with one another. Skillet and Flourish share something that neither can really share with the others without making things overly complicated, so it's only fitting that some of the other team members bond closer together like a click within a click. ;)
TCPolecat7's avatar
TCPolecat7Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I sort of figured that myself. Filigree and Rainbow Star are relatively close, and Flourish and Skillet have their own relationship. However you might be surprised where and how things evolve in time. Again, I have it planned out, but hopefully it will all seem organic as it goes.
