As the title shows, I got the game today and played a couple of hours in, I was so eager to play this game as I recently been playing the first game on emulator (I would play the physical copy but have trouble playing consoles at my house... hehe).
I wanted to give my little opinions on the game so far! Mostly going by first game since I haven't played Ripto's Rage and it's been years since I played Year of the Dragon. First impressions, the graphics are just gorgeous and the cutscenes and characters I feel are just more lively, and the voice overs feel just as lively in the original. Though I do miss his more snarky voice in the original, along with a few other various sound effects, like the gems, chickens, even the gnorcs when you hit them and they fart, I just loved the original sound effects as they sounded more cartoony, but the ones in the remaster do feel up to date in modern day standards I suppose, nothing ruining of course. But you have to admit you can miss the older sounds too! However, one complaint is that the graphics are just stunning but I feel it can be a bit too stunning as sometimes the lighting from the sky box can just be enough to hide gems and other various objects sometimes or just makes it distracting for my eyes, but on the plus side they added a Sparx mechanic where he can point out where you're missing gems. So I guess that can make up for that, as the visuals can make you lost sometimes! Especially when they are hidden within the grass. Another example of the lighting throwing me off was Icy Flight level in Peace Keepers, those lighthouse just barely blend in the background making me miss one on accident, whoopsies.
On topic of the Flight levels I've done so far, I feel the movement feels slightly more different, and the camera doesn't help it either. They were kind of annoying in the original but I think it's worse in the Reignited, it just feels too much as how fast it pans around with your movement, causing this extreme motion blur, it adds to the dynamic affects but it just makes me dizzy after a while. I do hope in future updates they can tone down on the camera and maybe make it possible to zoom it out just a tad bit. I feel it's a bit too close, especially on Flight levels. Other smaller changes I noticed is that the egg thieves move much more swiftly this time around, in the old games I always outsmarted them and burned them in seconds, this one makes me have to charge them for a bit longer than the usual. Still getting the hang of the controls, even shooting flames while charging doesn't seem to go through either as fast as the original. Now one more thing for now that I do love but wished it could've been better moment is the code to change Spyro's colors. I do like how it's actually changing his color rather than an overlay of color in the original this time, but one thing I do find a bit underwhelming is just that the scales and horns, including belly color aren't a tad bit lighter or even a normal color. I think that would make them better rather being one color as he looks like he just got into some paint mess lol. But these are my opinions so far on the game, I guess you can say my pros and cons. But overall, I do enjoy the game so far and loving every bit of it. Was super stoked just to fight Doctor Shemp (probably my favorite boss by design), don't ask why. xD
Anyways, anyone else out there loving the game so far whoever owns it? Would love to hear your opinions on the game too if you want to share your experience so far.
