A cool breeze sifted through the mid-summer day. I sat on the edge of a cliff, with an old oak tree right behind me. In front of me were endless fields, full of flowers and wild grass, while the sky shone a brilliant blue with fluffy white clouds spread out above me. I tilted my head up just enough to feel the wind brush against my warm skin.
“You seem to like it up here, eh?”
I didn’t even need to turn my head to know who it was. “Yeah, it’s wonderful.” I replied softly. I could hear him step towards me, hesitating for a moment.
“Mind if I join you?” His voice was calm, erasing what little bad feeling I’d had up to that point.
“Of course not.”
He sat to my right, a little further back from the edge than I, stretching his legs out next to me. Everything slowed down, though just a little.
“You’re right,” he said, breaking our momentary silence. “It is pretty wonderful up here. You can see for miles
