One day I gazed out of my window,
and found that the roads were paved with threads of gold.
For the first time, I looked at the horizon
And knew what dreams were, and there I saw
The alluring sparkle of potential, the promise of new life.
So I threw myself into this world, fresh, and open,
-and completely entranced.
There, before my eyes, everything I thought I knew
Became all the more beautiful.
The breath of the the wind kissed my face,
Brushed my neck, ran down my back,
Inbetween my fingers, and through my spirit.
And everywhere it traveled, the air was filled
With the scent of absolute purity.
The blue skies looked down on me,
And, in all softness, shone on me
With a warmth that filled my soul.
I gazed back and filled my eyes
With a glimpse of boundless eternity.
And yet, somehow,
things that I could not understand;
Things like rain, and darkness,
Things like cold, and pain,
Began to grow in the edges and corners
Corrupting everything that had been glorious to me,
Breaking to piece
