Working in Watercolour while I was down at my sister's place. Admittedly, being cautious with my concepts. As each image I attempted became a little more confident, the complexity of them also dramatically rose.
I wanted to work with opposing colours, or complimentary colour palettes for the figure. Instead of an orange tiger, I went with purple, and pitted the concept simply- tiger of water, and the fire- either being the breath, or the obstacle- to silhouette the front form and help create the contrast. I also love using the elements as symbolic contradictions, so it was a comfortable start for me.
Scan not as nearly amazing as original. Honestly, when isn't it ever?
I agree; you just work with color so beautifully! I like how it's so simple yet so complex. The tiger looks so serene yet fierce--a perfect harmony of fire and water. You did such a wonderful job here!
