Long cat is looooooooooong

It's nice to see 4chan doing something productive. I checked your blog and as far as protests go these seem to be actually happy (cakes?!). It's nice to see people speak out without losing their message to anger. Positivity is far more productive :]

Beautiful.

And Scientology is a cult in my eyes. And I'm not of a true 'mainstream religion'.

actually B only adopted the V mask (from the comic V for Vendetta) as "Epic Fail Guy" after the plans were already set for this event. and as a side not that is actually a "Guy Fox" mask, named after the revolutionary, and has spawned such things like the "Gray Fox Mask" in Oblivion Elder Scrolls.

Just felt like throwin that out there.

Oh, my mistake, I was under the impression that the mask came first (as epic fail guy) then the raids.

Thanks you for correctin' me! :D

It's against Scientology. The masks actually aren't completely random. It's to protect the identity of the protesters (hence making them "Anonymous"), just as V was in the movie. :B

If you want to know how Scientology is a dangerous cult, check out this for starters. It's a good source to find out some of he absolutely insane stuff that goes on within the so-called "church".

The masks are to protect their identity.

I lol'ed.:D

The thing is, though, it all seems inconsistent. Some anons do a good and sensible job, others just shouts irrelevant memes and wave posters that don't send any message. There is considerable debate on certain boards (which I, myself, frequent) as to how to go about this.

Heh, did you know that Scientologists accused Anonymous of being an advanced scouting force of the Markab fleet? ...The Markab are a race from the Sci-fi series Babylon 5, who were wiped out by a plague.

So Scientology stoops to stealing ideas from J. Michael Straczynski.:D

I agree with what you say about memes - they're hilarious but at the same time leave you thinking 'wtf' if you're not familiar with them. Fortunately, many of the people there seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge about Scientology and were genuinely supporting the cause, as opposed to just being there for fun and cake ;P

Yes, definitely. I know there are those that argue it's as legitimate as any other religion, but the difference with this one is that we know exactly who created it and why. If you see the beginning of an idea, you can better question it.:) And that - I hope - is what the protests are doing, and getting others to do. To stop and think about this crazy thing called Scientology, what it's really all about, and whether it's really good for people.

Let me just inject some liberalism into this situation.

Does it harm you if there is religion in the world? Probably not.
However, certain religions, cults, do cause harm, such as Scientology. There is much anecdotal evidence for this; the fact you are forced to pay large sums of money notwithstanding.

Most religions teach peace and ask only belief. What business is it of yours if someone is Christian, Muslim, Hindu or Jew? Just as it is none of their business if you are atheist or agnostic or whatever.

Anonymous is targeting Scientology as it is the cause of some suffering, spreading distrust and causing harm. Can you say that of Catholics? They may not be the most liberal, but they tend to be good, kind people trying to do good things. Or at least, avoid doing bad things.

You state further down the page you believe this is all down to ridiculous beliefs. It isn't. Its about the fact that Scientology is wrong at its most basic level. People should not have to pay for salvation, people should not be told to hate their fellow man. I do not wish to engage a rant, nor leave you feeling hard done by, in that I am arguing. If you truly wish to continue, feel free to note me. I only wish to spread a liberal tolerant view.

Ahem, tithing's? The inquisition? Oppression of gays? I'll agree that Scientology's way more egregious in it's avarice, but where do you think they learned the playbook?

Where did the tithe go? To the poor, the sick, the needy (its intent). The Inquisition is indefensible, but that is the fault of the perpetrators, not the religion. The Oppression of Homosexuals is a heavily grey area I wont go into now, other than to say that perhaps the interpretation of the word of the religion is wrong.
