Think I recall being here once. And if I recall correctly, we were shown a vast cavern like area (counterweight chamber) below the bridge where the HUGE counterbalance does its thing when the bridge opens/shuts. Scary place. One imagines being squished if you put a foot wrong - so you try not to! I love the way you've captured this... All those angles and textures and subtle hues with the hint of time thrown in for good measure. I've worked in some quite high profile 'places' in my time and work through the years, and love being sent back in time with the few rare places man hasn't squared off or concreted or mirrored. I used to love the City of London before it went 'modern'... There are still some hidden gems remaining, wee cobbled streets where the rear of old inns have remained but the fronts are some horrid futuristic bank, or such other horror. Looking at the timber handrail/balustrade in your picture, I'll wager you can detect scant odours of an older London if you were to get close enough.
Lovely shot!!!

Thank you! (Thanks so much for the donation also!) Ah yes, during our tour I too explored the counterweight chamber you described. It was so cool! I took some pictures down there too, but they didn't turn out so well. London was such an amazing place to visit; I'd love to go back someday.

P.S. Scant odors indeed! This picture was taken right next to the ladies' bathroom! rofl
