I lived back in NC so I saw a ton of these as well. Just empty but perfect shells.
I was always afraid of even touching them for some reason.

when I was a kid, I loved nothing more than looking at and thinking about bugs and insects. One of my favorites were the cycada, I loved finding their husks and takeing them in for examination.
