[DEVIATION] The sprawling sun drenched city of Arserno the largest city in the southern province of Suth, the air is thick with roasted spices and the brine of the great river. While the ivory towers of the elite pierce the sky , the winding narrow allies of the Lower Ward ae a different world entirely – a maze of rickety stalls and hidden tunnels where survival is a daily craft. In the prison that looms over the Lower Ward like a giant sentinel, things are beginning to stir. The heavy iron door of a cell groans on its rusted hinges, a sound like a dying beast that echoes off the damp, moss-slick stone walls. The flickering torchlight from the corridor spills into the dark room, casting a long intimating shadow that stretches across his small trembling form, chained and shackled beneath a barbed window. Flynn and Nyroc observed the little band, looking down on the rest of their herd from a rocky outcropping. The other horses grazed on what little winter grass they could find. This deep into the snowy season, it was hard to come across good food. This worried the two leaders. While some might say that Flynn and Nyroc had no actual status difference, it was clear that they were the co-leaders of the Bachelor band. Nyroc's tail flicked. Flynn stamped a hoof. The others barely bothered to take note; if there was trouble, Nyroc would have squealed a loud alarm. He was well known for that vocal “move-it” call. Flynn depended on Nyroc's speedy and loud warnings to alert the herd to any possible danger. Saffron was currently upside down, rolling in the snow-laden mud. It was still freezing cold, and Flynn couldn't imagine rolling for himself. But the appaloosa stud sometimes found it released tense muscles along his top line. It was the sound of stampeding cattle that first caught Curtis’s attention. He and Sirius were out foraging – though pickings were slim this early in the year. Still, he hoped for possibly some early choke cherries or something besides hardtack and dried rations. His last trip fishing had ended horribly, thanks to the crazed bull so…he was not apt to want to go back. However, he and the white mare had made quite a lazy loop around their usual stomping grounds. It wasn’t until the air began to hum with a sound like thunder that Curtis really got concerned. He was currently on the ground, but slung himself into the saddle as the first of the animals slipped and slid over the ridge. “Shit!” He barked, digging his heels into the mare’s sides. As Sirius rocketed off, the sky above them roiled with snowclouds. NOT NOW! Curtis’s words were hissed curses dragged through his teeth as he and Sirius thundered down the small ridge. Snow began to fall in thick, fat flakes, obscuring his vision.

Morning sun filtered through the trees. Last night’s rains seemed to have dissipated, as Nyroc and Flynn wandered their territory. The pair of cream colored stallions made quite a sight, as they crossed hills and valleys. As they walked, Flynn glanced over at Nyroc. Nyroc caught the glance, and grinned. Arching his neck, the stallion struck out at the ground, tail flagging. Flynn chuckled, amused by Nyroc’s sudden decision to strut his stuff. The other stud trotted forward, feeling silly as he tossed his head. His golden hued coat shone in the light. The pair of them made a wide, lazy turn and headed back towards the rest of their Bachelor band. So far, nothing appeared out of the ordinary. However, as they moved forward, they caught sight of a flashy bay splashed coat. Narrowing his eyes, Nyroc dropped the strutting act, and shuffled forward.
