HotS | Icarus | Cave Exploration [Event]

    The entrance of the cave loomed before her, eerie and dark. Months ago, Icarus would not have dared to approach such an ominous landmark, but now, with her heart patched up and depressed demeanor fading, a wave of curiosity beat out any fear that she may have felt. Leaving her herd to graze on a rare patch of exposed field, the mare snorted, ears flicking up when it echoed off the cave walls, and plunged into the unknown before her.

    As soon as she took the first turn, the visibility dropped substantially. Sleipnir’s favor was on her side, though, and the ice coated walls managed to reflect just enough light for her to find her way further into the caves. She continued like this for an unmeasured amount of time, intrigue pulling her to study the strange ice crystals that hung from the ceiling, and the salty taste of the ice around her fascinated her. Every so often the mare found herself pausing to lick at the walls. Were they coated in sea water? So distracted was the mare that she failed to notice the underground river in her path until its icy body pooled around her front hooves.

    Elation filled her chest and, with little care to the temperature, she plunged into the center of the river, prancing like a foal through its gentle current. Her soul felt free, filled with excitement and adventure. Adventure could always wait for her to play in the water for a few minutes, first, though.
