Evacuation! CloudClan Assignment Due Dec 10th

The CloudClan camp is experiencing collapse… literally! The hill above the camp that is usually used for apprentice climbing training has taken a bit more punishment than it could handle. That, the overly dry conditions, and mountains rumbling has caused the dried out roots that were holding it together to break, a large rock fall has collapsed most of the camp wall and the dens look like they are going next! CloudClan is in chaos. Many cats have run from the camp without much thought except get out. For this assignment draw/write your cat either escaping from the camp or trying to help other cats get out without getting hurt! Does your cat panic and flee? Look for friends and family? The first snowfall of the season brought a mixture of emotions to Sreten’s herd. Some were grateful for the shelter and food provided by the two-leggeds during this time. Whilst still others were apprehensive and eager to be on their way once more. Sreten, for one, was not at all bothered by their extended stay. They had food, water, and shelter. The holding pens were absolute chaos. A trio of wide eyed bachelors charged rampantly through the chutes connecting the makeshift pens, shying away from Bramble’s pinned ears as they ran past his pen. The wild bay bachelor balked, sending his two leopard friends skidding through the dusty footing and causing their brightly colored sabino friend to stumble. Alecto barked out an order at them to keep moving. Alecto and Bramble had been fortunate enough to warrant a private pen, allowing Bramble to heal without too much interference. Most of the wild eyed mustangs roaming through the larger, and more crowded, holding pens had no such luck. Every so often the humans culled some of them and allowed them to go free. Just yesterday a respectable band stallion, Medieval, and his herd had been allowed to go. Alecto hoped he and Bramble would be next. The weather in Cottonwood Valley had been strange as of late. One moment it would be sunshine and rainbows only for the next to be torrential downpours. The influx of strange weather had brought on a series of floods, causing the once grassy meadows to become a swampy mess. Many of the herds within the valley chose to travel to higher elevations up the mountains in search of drier ground. But not Sreten’s herd, no Sreten’s herd was remarkably undeterred by the soggy grazing grounds. Shelly reasoned that wet grass was just as good for you as dry grass and, well, nobody ever really argued with Shelly. Thus the herd stuck around, mowing down the damp turf around them. The rain was lousy and put a damper on Cacique’s mood, coating everything in a thin sheen of wet and cold. Not even the dense pine woods they had come to rest in could protect the Cardinals from the rain as the tricky globs of rain found their way through the sheltering branches to drip on the herd hiding below. The ground was also a mush of dead foliage, bracken and fallen branches. Not the best place to lie down and rest, but for those who needed it they saw little choice in the matter. It was a very early start to the morning for Hakon when he was woken from his slumber, his handler walking into his stall with his saddle and halter in hand. The sun had yet to peek above the horizon, the fading evening leaving a haze of blue at the edges and a piercing chill in the air. Outside the stable, Hakon could hear snuffling and pacing in the fields, and after staring outside for a moment, he caught a glimpse of the two dogs wandering around and taking in the fresh scents left behind. His ears flattened against his head in disapproval. He had never seen Harpy or Bishop outside of the garden before. As soon as the halter and saddle were on and fixed in place without pinching him, Amy used a stepping stool to climb into the saddle and scratched between his ears. Cavendish let out a slight grunt when he laid down on a smooth patch of rock nestled in the ground, his breath turning to mist in front of him as the cold air started to seep in around him. After walking for so many miles through mountain valleys and frosted pine forests, he finally came across the scrublands that always seemed to look different to him with each passing season. Sometimes it would look lush and green throughout the Summer and Spring when the herds didn't pass through, but when they did it wouldn't be as green or colourful from the flowers that would grow unchecked. But plenty of horses, wild cattle or deer would occasionally make their way through these flat lands and eat what they could. A good choice of pickings for carnivores on the lookout for food. Autumn would depend on the herds, too, Cavendish thought as he watched time drift by in the form of sluggish clouds in the sky and the slow arc and descent of the sun. Howl snorted loudly, pushing the soot under his muzzle up in a gust of cloying black. He pulled his head up quickly, nose wrinkled in disgust. Tail twitching, he continued cautiously through the ruined forest. The trees were black and burnt, their bark cracked and slowly oozing out sap.
