Silent folds of whispering cloth slide across the ears
Silk hard as steel to the flesh, burning like sweet fire on touch
But why does it hurt and please?
This simple vendetta to sink within ourselves, it mirrors paradise
Tongues of serpents and venom alike
The scaly caress on the skin burying daggers into the soul and mind
Leviathan of the spirit, hoarding the freedom of all yet life and breath
The scent yet burns in our head, calling with a dark choice
Decisions are never made with thought
Memories forgotten for the presence of that paradise
No looks into the future for the listener of the song
The sight of front or back shall make the warmth of it all fade away
Angels all around, spreading their black wings
They speak heaven is a lie
But if it never was a true place, where could they have fallen from
False truths harbor only real lies
The silk blocks the sight, leaving only the touch of the serpent
This sensation kills off all thoughts, leaving the mind at the mercy of false angels
Truths forsaken for paradise, fading to a husk that desires more
There the fire builds a nest in the heart, devouring all that matters.
If it is truly paradise, why then, does it all feel cold at the core?
How can the heart burn with iced flame?
Or is it merely because all else has been forgotten
Lost thoughts causing pain to be the only real feeling.
The depths of murky shadows pursue yet
Led by a prince with eyes of crimson and sapphire
Is he the bearer of memories?
Or the cause of all the pain and hollow tastes
“Awaken” says the night-bearer
“Sleep” says the dawn
But the shadow prince whispers slowly into the ear
The sound of all and nothing reversed a million fold
“Dream and Remember”
