Description

(the AMAZING FINAL FIGHT OF JW, between the queen of Nublar, the unstable pretender to the throne, Blue and the leviathan of the lagoon)

So, We have arrived to another Jurassic Month and we are ALL HYPED FOR THE INCOMING NEW INSTALLMENT
It's been three years since the previous installment and 25 years since all began, and I'm here to humbly say ...

Welcome... to JURASSIC MONTH

Now, like many Dino-geeks (or paleo-nerd if you prefer) I LOVE the Jurassic franchise, ever since I was little.
I loved the effects, I loved the acting, I loved the clever writing and of course, the dinosaurs (who doesn't)

So, in celebration of this franchise's continuing existence, especially with the latest installment movie, I'm going through every one of the JP films (so far) to keep them (and their complex lore) fresh in my mind for when me and my family go to see it in the IMAX.
And for each movie i watch, I'm going to post a picture to represent each film on my quest to fallen kingdom.

Last night, I've just watched the fourth chapter in the series, and the last film before I see Fallen Kingdom...

I give you, the fourth film in the franchise, JURASSIC WORLD!

Now before we start the plot summery, it's important to note that after the disappointment people had with JP3 (even though I myself find nothing wrong with it myself) it caused a big problem as for the next fourteen years, as they coudn't find a good writer, nor a good story to get the franchise back on it's feet, they went through MANY ideas, ranging from reasonable story ideas to NONSENSICAL, (read this BIZARRE john sayles script to see what i mean-docs.google.com/file/d/0B-1uo1…) and for a long time, I and many JP fans just accepted that a fourth film would never come to be, but eventually, they found a new writer and a new director (Colin Trevorow) and eventually in the year of 2015, it came to be released a surprised EVERYONE by how amazing it was...

it had done the following:
-Continued the cleaver/realistic story instead of just rebooting it (hence no fully feathered dinosaurs as that would mess with consistency)
-introduced new ideas (hybrids, "tamed" raptors etc)
-had an amazing cast of new characters (Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire, Vincent Deoforio as Vick Hoskins etc)
-had scenes that were surprisingly emotional
and so much more than that...

And heres a reason why this movie is EXTRA special to me, you see I was born in early 1999, (so I obivously never saw JP3 when it came out) and JW was the first JP film i saw at the cinema, so techically speaking I had been literally waiting MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD for it, And so, instead of just giving a plot summery (because most hardcore JW fans know it by now) I'm going to relay my personal experience with this film when it came out in 2015 (as a final build up to this evening)....

Three years ago, I went to the IMAX with my family (just like I intend to do tonight) crossing my fingers that the new film was going to be good, I had even brought my cuddly dinosaurs, for luck. Now I will never forget the experience I had that night, you see, I definitely hoped that it was at least better than JP3, but what I got, not only exceeded my expectations, it blew them SKY HIGH. Maybe you can say I had very low expectations and honestly I won't deny that, but this film was the first time ii was FULLY INVESTED IN WHAT I WAS WATCHING, I had great realistic charaters that I could both relate to and understand their motives, the park was just BEAUTIFUL to the point that you feel that you were right there, the science was surprigingly realistic and perhaps the best part, it made me fall in love with dinosaurs all over again, and with all honesty, even though they weren't the most accurate in appearance (the reason for which that explained as clear as day) they were treated AS PROPER ANIMALS with thoughts, emotions etc that is something that MOST dinosaur-movies FAIL to do (like that HORRIBLE WWD movie) and there were even some moments that to my surprise, i started CRYING AT, particularly the sad apatosaurus scene, it was just so sad seeing this gentle giant on it's side suffering a slow painful death. And as for the hybrid, I've already expressed that I LOVE THE DESIGN OF THIS HYBRID, Beacuse the thing is, they could have easily have gone too far and created something completely ridculous (need i have to mention the freaky-looking Ultimasaurus-vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/ts…) but instead they had designed it to look like a dinosaur that could theroretically exist, while having a nice arrangement of unqie traits...the concept of a hybrid creature was a VERY GOOD idea in my oppinon for upon reflection it made sybioic sense of the problem with the general public.

To me, the indominus rex is weirdly symbolic for being a living manifestation of humanity's superficiality towards dinosaurs.

or as HoopsandDinoMan put it.

"the general public isn't interested in things like how the joints of dinosaur bones worked or theories on the structure of their internal organs, they just want to imagine dinosaurs fighting and big carnivores like t-rex eating smaller herbivores...
Most people only care about the terrifying image associated with dinosaurs, not the science of it, and that unfortunate fact is made manifest by the indominus rex, a creature that shouldn't even exist and only does to satisfy humanity's appetite for monsters.
so in a cleaver kind of way, it's like our superficiality has taken on a physical form and is literally destroying us"

I also loved the new way they presented the raptors in JW, in the previous films they were just another danger for the heros to fight back against, but in JW, while they are DEFINATELY still dangerous, the film breaks that traditional mold but having the idea of humans raising the raptors from birth and training them, for me, it's rather like how in real life you have keepers who can feed and even play with the animals they raised, they just have to rember how to stay safe around them they're trainer, Owen knows that even though the raptors can be trained they are still dangerous wild animals and thus, never lets his guard down... Unlike Hoskins who wants to use the raptors in the military, now it's SOUNDS ridiculous at first but when you think about his plan does make a bit of sense, I mean thousands of years ago, WOLVES were a menace to human society and now we german shepherds and bloodhounds in the police force, the Only reason that his idea doesn't work is that he didn't listen to anything except what he WANTED to know and he tried to do WAY TOO MUCH too soon.

However, now let's address the part that most people agree is just DOWNRIGHT AWESOMENESS.
And that is the scene that I have illustrated, the finale FIGHT SCENE.

Never before had I been so engaged in a fight scene, and all throughout it, I was chant "T-REX, RAPTOR, T-REX, RAPTOR, T-REX, RAPTOR, T-REX, RAPTOR" as they bit, slashed and thrashed the indominus about before it finally was finished by the MIGHTY MOSASAUR!
it's really no wonder that there's no speaking for the last few minutes, after such awesomeness, what more could be said... top it all off with the t-rex roaring and you get a BEAUTIFUL ending that had me literally crying tears of joy.
(and it was EVEN MORE awesome considering that the t.rex is the EXACT same rex from the first film)

so that's all four of the Jurassic Franchise films (so far) and now that I finally arrived at the final station it's time to get off and get ready for the AWESOMENESS that is the next Chapter: JURASSIC WORLD FALLEN KINGDOM!
