 At the start, its not applicable, its mostly utility and mobility. Even trapping ppl within this pocket space is possible with time, but limited by concentration, too much damage from within or outside and the concentration is broken.

But later on, this can be used in battle both creatively and destructively. Opening the "portal" at the right position to defend from attacks, and eventually the same way you can take "chunks" of stuff into the pocket dimension quite easily by closing prematurely. Although Hyde would never use it this way (the same way Uraraka doesnt use hers like Toga does).

Ill let you know about a few random details about him, his father was a renown unstoppable thief, internationally wanted. Hyde has never met his father, but inherited a very similar quirk, so UA in an attempt to be safe but fair, has Hyde attend a special class to keep an eye on him and prove himself not a potential villain. He is not a good student at all, aloof and proper, but in truth he is rather resentful of the prejudice against him... He tries his darnest to earn peoples trust and friendship, despite failing constantly.
