In one of the most beloved Arthurian stories Parcival traveled all the way to the Sunset Countries to retrieve the Four Silver Fishes of Enduring Faith.
Parcival loaned Merlin’s magic boat, which was “propelled by rowers unseen”, but our hero noticed from the corner of his eyes that they were “golden haired and silver-winged”.
Our hero fell asleep and when he woke up he was lying in the sand of a beach that ran as far as “a man can walk in week and then some more”.
A woman stood looking down on him. Her face was so exotically beautiful that Parcival didn’t mind that her long tresses were interwoven with living snakes.
“Are you Quetzalcoatl? “ she asked. ‘The Warrior from the East, come to lead us to glory?’
