Just before lift-off, a dream picture

I sometimes get those voice-over dreams, with an earnest commentator explaining how things work.
In this case it was Floating Islands.
"Everyone has seen them, drifting between the clouds and probably wondered how something so heavy could float like a balloon. There is a trick to it. The balloonist start with a nice chunk of granite, often no bigger than a football.
He starts inflating it, filling the spaces between the grains with emptiness. By the time it has become the size of a house it begins to rise. The well-known Law of Archimedes, you see, with the displaced air pushing it up. 
When it has become hill-sized it can carry hundreds of passengers."
I remember nodding in my dream and thinking: So that is how it is done!
