It isn't terrible. I'll give it that. But the people saying "this is ten times better than Sonic X omg!" need to calm their tits. I think a lot of people are forgetting that the English dub of X is done by a company that makes shows for tiny kids - the original Japanese airing has a strikingly different set of lines used and I think some scenes were even omitted or shortened in the english version to make it more 'kid friendly' - the original show was aimed at teens and had frequent swearing in it. I know this partly because I saw the first couple episodes of the show in Japanese with a verbatim English translation. I'm not arguing that Chris was not a terrible character in any case, or that the show did not have some weaknesses. I'm just saying that the Sonic Boom TV show is definitely not better IMO, at least from what I have seen so far.
There have been incredibly mixed responses to the show from what I have seen in comments and blog posts around the internet - ranging from rating it anywhere from absolutely fantastic to absolutely horrible. I think my reaction is somewhere in the middle. I think it has a few good comedic lines, and I like Tails as a character for the most part. But I find that the show is very bland and lacking plot. It's much more childish than shows like Sonic X or the original Sonic the Hedgehog show that had Sally, Antoine, etc. I kind of feel as though most of the characters lack depth or real development - it's kind of like anyone could have written it. I'm not saying that it's bad...just that it isn't all that good either. It really seems like it is missing something important. I understand that this is meant to be a comedic and light show and that this is aimed at kids...but I was still expecting something a little more intriguing than this. I think if the show continues on the same trend as the first couple of episodes I'm going to get bored with it fairly quickly. I mean, I'll still watch it, but it just doesn't have the same elements that every other show in the sonic franchise I have watched has. Even the most random, silly - and practically incoherent at times - sonic show, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, seems more amusing and fun to watch. For some reason you just can't beat the classics.
If I had to give the show an overall rating on a scale of 1 to 10, I would probably give it a 5 or 6. I think the show is somewhat funny and the characters are semi-well developed (Except that Amy is EXTREMELY annoying and I wish she would shut up the minute she opens her mouth) but I also think there is significant room for improvement. I guess we will have to see how the rest of the series goes, but I'm just not really feeling it with this so far.
Tails4evr really needs to get drawing again >.< (I owe like 3 different people drawings right now...)
