Transcendence - Wonder of the Night Sky by taibossigai Transcendence - Wonder of the Night Sky by taibossigai
The night sky is truly a thing of wonder...under it, looking at all the hundreds and thousands of stars disappearing into the wide sea of darkness, I suddenly feel very small and insignificant.

I VERY like this one. It shows for me the essence of the (spiritual mystery). The person on your painting seems to experience contact with Higher Something-in a lot of religions called God.
The expression on his face lets us see he's ready inside for this contact; maybe he has prayed a lot or meditated so he's spirit is pure enogh. I love the stars aswell and the clouds or smoke or whatever it could be.
For me it's a perfect work!!!

Nice work, I really like the pose and the whole concept itself! :D The sky is done very well too!

Something I would suggest is to make him look a bit less tense. Perhaps you could make his shoulders back a touch to make his posture look less stiff?
Also, I'd try and make the shading a touch darker, especially in the hair.
But overall, I really like how you did this piece! The different shades of blue are beautiful! :D

Thanks so much! I have to agree, the hair colour turned out a bit light for my tastes. I kept trying to add in darker tones but it never really showed up. :(

I debated on the posture too (there's a few layers of paint under there where I moved the shoulders and face around), and thought about doing a view more on an angle but she looked rather anorexic. Ultimately I went with this one, I wanted a pose to look small and a little defenseless.

Glad you like the sky...it was my favorite part to paint. :D

You're welcome!

That's okay, hair is really difficult to do. I think she looks fine, just a bit stiff.
But still a great piece!
