Your heart was throbbing violently in your ears. Every inch of your body hurt and your throat had never been this dry before. You slowly opened your eyes, getting blinded by the sunlight coming through the windows in your room in Stark Tower.
You had been there several months now as an addition to the team, but mostly to keep an eye on Loki. After everything that had happened on Asgard Loki had been banished. The Asgardians had demanded his death, but his brother, Thor, had offered the God of mischief mercy, sending him back to earth to serve the very people he had so desperately tried to kill when he first arrived on earth.
When you had first learned of the real reason for your promotion you had been furious. Fury knew as well as anyone else what Loki had done to you. You could still hear his voice in your head sometimes, ordering you to kill innocent people. You had been under his spell, just like Clint, and there had been nothing you could do about it. Loki was dragging his feet behind him, his gaze an icy, angry glare. He followed the dancing red curls of Natasha Romanoff and the confident walk of Tony Stark. He would have given anything to not be here, but they had all insisted he would come along on their weekly shopping spree to something the Midgardian’s called a supermarket. Loki wasn’t used to getting his food himself, let alone make it. He didn’t like it one bit.
He hadn’t even begin to contemplate the weirdness of it all. He, the rightful ruler of Asgard, was walking along a cleaning aisle with the same group of people he had tried to kill just a few years ago.
‘What did Pepper say she needed again?’ Loki heard Natasha wonder out loud. He knew she was talking to Tony, but as usual the man with the iron tin can as a suit, was ignoring her and walked straight for the large refrigerator with fresh meat.
‘Just take one of those boxes on the top,’ Clint Barton told Natasha instead.

‘Truth or dare?’ Tony asked you, sipping from his glass of whiskey.
Together with Natasha and Pepper you were playing the old time favorite game of Truth or Dare as you were waiting for the rest to come back from a mission or the shower.

                “Steve, I have to go,” I said quickly to Steve, unwrapping the cloth around my hand. Steve Rogers, paused mid punch and stared at me. “I just got I call from (Name). She needs my help,” I explained. Steve nodded understandingly and put another punching bag on his hook. I smiled to him. After all those years being apart and after all the fighting, he was still my best friend.
                I dashed out to my car. As the wind whipped my face, I noted how strange it felt not having long hair anymore. Once S.H.E.I.L.D. fixed me up, I figured it’d be best to become a decent human being again, thus I cut my long hair back to how it was before all of this. Before Hydra had gotten to me. ‘Avengers assemble!’ Nick Fury’s voice echoed through Stark Tower. ‘I repeat Avengers assemble!’
You were wobbling nervously on your feet. You had obviously heard of the Avengers after everything that happened in New York the last couple of years, but even though you were a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, you had never actually met them.
You had only been an agent in training during the attack of New York and when S.H.I.E.L.D. got attacked by Hydra you were knocked unconscious by one of the members of the S.T.R.I.K.E. team. You were one of the few agents Fury still fully trusted.
