I'm kinda sick of seeing homo- couples being incorrectly labelled as 'yaoi' or 'yuri'; along the terms 'uke' & 'seme' being tossed around outside of yaoi context. It's not that hard to use 'submissive / dominant' instead?
Anywho, if you're not familiar with why I dislike yaoi & yuri, it's because they're usually written for straight audiences of the opposite sex & are heavily over sexualised (tl;dr: yaoi & yuri are hentai terms & not really on the LGBT+ community's side).
They're usually influenced by hetero- contexts (at least, yaoi seems to be - I'm not extremely familiar with yuri since it's not as popular). 'Ukes' & 'Semes' are a great example of this: the uke is typically the feminine one of the two & essentially takes the ""female"" submissive role. The seme is the handsome, masculine one that obviously takes the male dominant role.
