Come, take my hand

Come, take my hand

Come, take my hand, I’ll lead the way Through darkest night, through grayest day We’ll face all pain and all your fear Through barricades, the last frontier Until steep hills and walls decay Should sunless roads lead us astray Or smothered thoughts your smile betray We’ll make it through, we’ll dry your tear Come, take my hand A remnant smile each time you weigh How long this lasts, how long its stay Your breath is deep; your eyes are clear Your time has come; the end is near Come, take my hand

Rendezvous Rondeau

Hundreds of faces sink inside my head, Naught but sediment on a riverbed; But among the washed-up sand, a shrub grows   Caught between used wilderness and fallows. Meet me where the shrub’s final seed has spread, And under the foliage, we shall wed Inside this dreamscape to which we have fled. We will not awake when the rooster crows For the “real world” has sunk inside my head. From the fallows arose a grand farmstead Where we store our memories in a shed So if my brain should forget what it knows, I shall always have what I now enclose – Though I lose many to the shore ahead, Your face will never sink inside my

To be a spider in its web

To be a spider in its web

To be a spider in its web, And stand upon wind’s flow and ebb, Free from walls and worldly weight, A nomad’s home’s a rich estate. In any place I could embed, The quiet woods, some stately stead; To my own camp I would not wed! It blown or burned, I’d shrug away, To be a spider in its web. To go where eager feet had led, Meander on or onward sped, Or if it strikes me I will wait, And set up camp upon your gate, Watch sunset’s colors from my bed, To be a spider in its web.

We Come with Love

We Come with Love

Come lay me down upon your bed to consummate the bonds that wed to each the other, let us show the love that only souls can know: From halves, a whole new life is bred. To drink from lips of rosy red while hands acquaint with flesh has led to beg our passion overflow— Come lay me down. And from the other, pleasure pled through song of voice and arms to shed our loneliness in passion’s throe until at last, euphoric glow in aftermath of where we tread… Come lay me down.

Things Unsaid

Things Unsaid

Today, I took a walk along this street When I heard an all-too familiar beat – The soft music of your favorite band, Sticking in my mind and throat like wet sand. As the morose song mocked me on repeat, My spirits began to quickly deplete; I thought of you (slowly moving my feet), Of emotions I cannot understand All while I took a walk along this street. I have no reason to feel incomplete But as I ponder, walking in the heat, I can almost feel the ghost of your hand Faintly holding mine so we don’t disband – I can't lose you now amidst the concrete For we once took a walk along this street.

Subway Adventures

She told me that her tattoos Were her way of charting breakthroughs “Why?” I asked “For when life wears a mask.” I gawked at her, she had so many While I myself didn't have any I had moved to New York to be free As far away from home as the eye could see She told me to keep my chin up Everyone is different in this crazy world With unique ways to counter what life hurls She nodded, saying to follow my heart If I did, home and I would never be far apart She was a strange old lady, But her wisdom rang true I got off the Subway with a new point of view She told me to follow my dreams, Which I will never fail to do
