Reality is in the eye of the beholder.
Maybe we're simulated, maybe we're not. But does being simulated make you less real? Do you feel like you are not real?
To me, reality is the concept of an entity that is capable of interacting with an environment of equal or higher complexity to their expectations (simulated or not).
By that definition, to most people life is real and games are not. Though in recent years, with the expantion of more in depth and more multiplayer oriented games, they are becoming more and more real.
