I'd been an avid fan of hard science fiction since my childhood, and the twin paradox had always been a very intriguing concept to me. Leaving your home to return a few subjective years later, only to come upon a radically changed planet - because at home decades, or even centuries, had gone past. Imagine how the traveler must feel upon returning home and learning of all the changes which had transpired during his absence. The advances in science, the shifting social norms...
