Lion Lion, Burning Bright
Lion lion, burning bright
Fighting through the dreadful night
What turmoil or mortal lie
Could hope to snuff your ardent pride?
What pain within, what tears you’ve shed
Became the fuel for flame instead?
What hero did your heart desire
To be your own, through faith in fire?
And what fell beast and hateful kin
Could draw that power from within
Swift with sinew, defy death
Stride, cut short a devil’s breath
And with a humble rod in hand,
Claws on fingers, toes you stand
Roar of thunder, like greased lightn’ng
Passion turns to fury fright’ning!
After the wicked fell in woe
Beaten, broken, and brought low
Did they smile upon your deeds?
Through your valor, evil bleeds
Lion lion, burning bright
Lives were saved thanks to your might
No fiend or beast could e’er abide
Nor take from you your belov’d pride
