







“You there! Who are you? What are you doing on my lawn?” In an instant I was wide awake, staring at the woman holding an old hunting rifle in her hands. “Well?” She demanded to know. “Answer me!”
“I… I’m sorry…” I stuttered. “I just wanted to get out of the rain…” I hated sleeping out in the open on nights like this. Sometime during the day it had started raining heavily, forcing me to seek cover. The gate to this garden had been unlocked and so I had hidden myself in the small pavilion. Sadly she had noticed me.
Slowly, trying not to alarm her, I gathered my stuff, it wasn’t much, and packed it into my backpack. When I rolled up the blanket, I heard a soft yelp and looked down at the little fox that had been hiding under it. “Let’s go Chika…” I mumbled. “We are not wanted here.” I stooped to pick her up and quickly secured her under my jacket
