I'm NOT afraid to Burst Balloons !
Our host arrived - she glided in, and came into the room, And holding in her gentle hands? A bag full of BALLOONS! She placed the bag down and stood back, and with excited eyes, said "Who's NOT afraid to Burst Balloons!?" and quickly jumped aside. With squealed delight we grabbed balloons and blew and blew and blew, She said "Keep Blowing!" grabbed one out, and started blowing too! And as we blew I felt so brave, and showing off I said, "I'm NOT afraid to Burst Balloons!" going to my head! But one girl stopped and as she watched, put fingers in both ears, I sensed she was afraid and that balloons could be her fear! But as we both locked eyes I stared intensely as I blew, And teased her in my blowing, she was scared but smiling too. She didn't turn away I knew she wanted it to Burst, And flinched at every sound it made with squinted eyes at first. And as I blew I made it Burst! and watched her jump in fright, "I'm NOT afraid to Burst Balloons!" and blow with all my mite!LiteratureBalloon Party!
She woke excited, perked and primed, ready for the day, Preparations for a party, in a fun-filled way, A big bag of balloons she grabbed and shook the whole lot out, She took them to the party table, spreading them all out. She placed one by each place mat for her guests a cute surprise, She couldn't wait to see the sparkles that would fill their eyes, She left a space right in the middle, filled it with balloons, So that her guests could blow them up, at any time they'd choose. She started hanging clusters of balloons so overblown, And tied them to the chairs and curtains making such a show, And as she blew them up she filled them right down to the neck, Then whisked them from her lips and tied them, giving them a peck. She placed some not inflated, so the guests who came in first, Could take one, run inside, and blow them up until they burst! She loved the sound balloons could make, with their nozzles stretched, Those joyous festive squealing farts, the sound that she knewLiteratureBalloon Games at School!
This one comes after what I wrote about Bursting Balloons for my mum! At school we had what was called a sports carnival, and a swimming carnival too. This was like a yearly thing and was divided into sort of sections where groups would participate in one event at a time, all spread over our school sports playfield which was like a football field where all the different types of activities would be played in their own separate sections. There was usually a program of events and families and siblings, of those who could, would cme to watch. Everyone got a black ribbon 'good egg award' who participated but didn't get a place, even if you came last. Which looking back I think was rather nice. My mum had the program of events and was reading it out to me so I'd know which ones I was to go in, and said "Jessica. You're in one called a balloon race". We thought it was probably to do with blowing up balloons and letting them fly to see whose could go the furthest but then she said "ItLiteratureBursting balloons in bikinis!
I mentioned one of the first tv shows I saw with an episode about an event at a theme park they had called the "annual balloon bursting contest". There was another show at night called "almost anything goes" and I've been able to find a few episodes, but not of this one. This show played once a week at about 7pm so I would have been in my room when it was on, but I remember my mum calling me from the living room. As I came out she said "look what's on" and it was like a rundown of what they would have on the show. The basic idea was, there were 4 teams made of 2 males and 2 females, and each team wore the same colour. As I remember it there was a red, green, blue and yellow team. I think they were from different states, but I since found the show was produced at an outdoors location in Sydney.
