The morning sun rose over the wasteland where Astal made camp. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, and as he expected, the bird he rescued earlier from topaz-armored Goblins was still with him. After retracing his steps and making an exhausting trek back down the river into the city, Astal managed to return to the gates with the bird still at his side.
