Knowing what I know now, I probably would have waited and invested in the Canon 20D but I ended up with the 300D because I was in a bind and needed it for my Summit trip. The 300D and 350D's are still great entry-level cameras. I'm enjoying the results and it will be the camera body I'm going to learn and practice on. Hopefully I can add an additional body (20D or 30D) to my arsenal in the next few months. My major concern now is acquiring a nice collection of lenses and finding a quality photography class close by. With that said, if you've got enough saved up, or you're able to bankroll something nice, splurge on the 20D (though, I hear the 30D is around the corner). If you're on a tighter budget, the Rebel XT is a capable DSLR.
