Redraw of one of my worst old pics. The bar wasn't very high, so I tried polishing it a bit, but didn't have a bad conscience stopping eventually.

In his active days, I imagine Etaoloth as a hell of a leader. Never getting personal with his guys and gals, but still leaving them in the knowledge that they could absolutely trust him. Over time, his unit got a excellent reputation and would be called on to solve the really bad problems and the really dirty messes. At this point, he'd shed all of his former self and become that weird, almost robotic military persona.

Nobody missed the civil war when Gadeth ended it, but not everyone saw another dictatorship as a good permanent solution. Not Etaoloth, though. Restoring order and peace was enough to earn his undying loyalty. Not that he didn't notice it when signs of decadence and openly displayed evil crept into Gadeth's reign later on, but by then, Etaoloth saw this as the next generation's problem.
