Jocelyn the pregnant officer

Jocelyn and Chris stood in their captain's officer, reporting their findings to him from Laura's infiltration into a growing drug operation.

Gregor: So glad you decided to come cook again Kwolek.

Laura: You say it like I had a choice.

Gregor: Well you did, but only one was the right choice, and you picked the right one. (He pulled her in for a sideway hug, walking her along with him) Now come on, we have work to do.

Laura: Wait, what about the boss?

Gregor: Boss?

Laura: You said that you got hired to cook by someone, then you came to me. I want to know who I'm cooking for.

Gregor: Alright, let's go meet Lazarus.

Captain: So... this whole drug conspiracy is being headed by Lazarus?

Jocelyn: It appears to be that way sir.

Captain: And we just served them Kwolek on a silver platter.

Chris: Yes, but she has a wire on her, and they haven't found it yet. We used the latest the we got to tap her.

Jocelyn: But what will happen to her when she gets caught? You've seen what his enforcers do to people who get in his way. Homicide is still finding bodies that are linked to him. (She looks to the captain) Sir, we need to get her out before she gets hurt, or worse.

Captain: I'm sorry Officer Jocelyn, but that's out of the question now. Kwolek is deep in the lion's den, all we can do is wait to hear from her.

Jocelyn: Hear? We set her wire to always be transmitting.

Captain: Tech lab just reported that it went dark and few minutes ago.

Jocelyn's blood froze at the news. Fear gripped her heart for her new friend's safety, imagining possibilities of what's happening to her now.

Jocelyn: Then we have to get her out now! There's no time to waste.

Chris: Jocelyn, we don't know if anything has happened to her. She's maybe in a place or building that blocks signals?

Jocelyn: Or she could be dead or being tortured for information as we speak. Sir, we need to-

Captain: We are not going to do anything at the moment Officer Jocelyn. We are going to wait and see what happens, and you are going home.

Jocelyn feels like she was just slapped in the face as the words hit her.

You are going home.

She promised Laura that she would be there for her, that she would have her back and help her in anyway she could. Now her superior was taking her off the case.

Jocelyn: Sir, please, you can't do this. Laura needs someone she trusts, not another impersonal handler.

Captain: You're too close to Kwolek. You see her as a friend and not a criminal.

Jocelyn: She isn't a criminal. She was forced to cook to protect her family.

Captain: I'm not having this conversation continue. Go home. Hand all of your case information to Officer Sanfilipo. She will be taking over this case.

Jocelyn reluctantly shut her mouth, furious that she's being benched. She looks at Chris, who gives her a sympathetic look. She nods to her captain and leave the room. She gathers her reports and files regarding the Kwolek case and shares it with her best friend on the force, Rachel Sanfilipo, a fellow pregnant Officer like her.

She was conflicted about leaving things to her. She is a great officer who gets the job done, and is a hero in many ways, but she is gstting closer to her due date, and should be on maternity leave by now.

But if she was to leave this case in anyone's care, it would be her's.
