It's 'Tag der deutschen Einheit' (Day of the German reunion) today so basically the counterpart of the 4th of July over in the USA.
Comparing it it's pretty representative of the differences in culture and patriotism, because there aren't and there will be no extra flags hanging anywhere and no special parties going on. Just a relaxed sweatpants day for everybody lol

Relaxed Sweatpants day? Way to shatter the workaholic stereotype.
I jest though, We make something of a big deal of July 1st(Canada Day) though not nearly to the same extent as our southern neighbours.
This year was a bit of an exception though, 150 years is a bit of a milestone.

Ugh I dislike that stereotype about Germans xD it's just not true for most of us I think.
I'm a very lazy person even tho I'm very committed about my work (both art and job). (my dad always told me that 'if you're lazy you have to make up by being smart')
Today is just literally "a day where I can't buy groceries" for most of us. Just like every other Sunday :P
Oh well, a little celebration is good in my opinion, the USA are just overdoing it (a lot) for my taste xD
