OC Ref: Hallucinogen the Zebra

Lucy may be used for breedings! My only rules are to let me know which pony you're breeding her with, not to breed her with any of her relatives (canon or not), and not to breed her with any pony that is not canonically an adult. I'd also really like to have second pick of the foals (after you), and while it's always nice to get free foals, I'm more than willing to pay for any I take. <3

I'm doing my best to do at least one new piece of art a month until I have everything caught up (and will hopefully be able to do more after that), that way next year when the 2025 at a glance memes come out, I can actually fill out a full one! There's a method to my madness ehehehehehehehe.

Anywho, Lucy! Definitely my absolute favorite of the Opiate x Acid offspring! She was a blast to draw, and honestly I say this a lot but this is definitely one of my favorite things I've drawn. <3 So happy to be drawing again!

Personality: Lucy does her best to try and show outwardly that she's doing well, however that is very far from the truth. She is very sickly, and often in chronic pain, so there is rarely a time when she's actually feeling happy. For this reason, she doesn't go out much, opting to stay in her room at her Father's house in Everfree. She doesn't want anyone to see her pain.

Lucy was the first born child between Opiate and Acid Rain, and though she was not each of theirs first born overall, she was the first one born to Opiate after losing his wife and son. She wasn't planned, coming about thanks to magical potion the pair was working on gone awry. Not too long after Lucy was born, Opiate and Acid had a falling out due to differing opinions on certain ethics, with Acid leaving entirely. Opiate was not prepared to look after a foal on his own, so for the first bit of her life, Dusk would come by every day to help look after her.

Lucy was born sickly, and as a baby seemed to get sicker and sicker, causing Opiate, who was already versed in the medical field, to seek outside advice from a fellow Zebra, Zecora. They determined that though Lucy inhaled oxygen, her lungs were expelling a poisonous gas known as Quinuclidinyl Benzilate, and if she didn't let out her breath entirely, it was sticking around in her body causing issues. It was a strain on her poor little body, but they needed to do surgery to put some vents on her body to help remove the access gasses. There was a pair placed on her neck, a pair in her cheeks, and the rest would find its way out of her mouth. Opiate was able to use some of his equipment for her, and even resized one of his old gas masks, and while wearing it she was able to breathe even better. The strain on her little body lessened, and she was able to grow to adulthood, though there was rarely a time when she felt truly well.

Lucy was very sheltered growing up, even into adulthood Opiate treated her like she was made of glass. Since she was sickly already, he deeply feared losing her like he did his previous child, and when he wasn't working on his own secret project, he was looking into more and more things to help ease her burdens. New equipment to help filter her lungs, new medications, new herbal remedies. And heavens forbid he let her go outside, the forest was full of dangers after all. At one point, Lucy, who was feeling useless and trapped, ran away from home to try and win her freedom. She was gone for a whole day, and didn't bring any of her filters or mask with her. It took an entire search party to find her, and when they did she was laying under a tree, dizzy and confused as she was starting to lose oxygen. She was young and thought that she could run away from her illness.

It was then Opiate realized the error of his ways, she needed to get out, she needed to see others, even though she was frail, she needed to have a life despite her disabilities. But to his dismay, her little romp outside caused trauma within her mind, and she began shutting herself in her room for days at a time, she realized how truly fragile she really was. Opiate really doesn't know how to go about talking to young mares, so Dusk has been helping him along with this too, speaking with Lucy privately and trying to figure out what's going on in her mind while also helping her with her biological womanly issues.

It took awhile but Lucy is finally starting to come around, after meeting on of her half sisters which she took to immediately, she will sometimes venture out into the foods with Foxy to look at new kinds of flower. She hates the mask but wears it with Foxy around so they match, which relieves Opiate some, as she's able to breath much better with it on. She still doesn't feel well a lot of the time, but she is taking steps to try and push past it. She knows it may never go away, but she is learning to take things one day at a time, and do all that she can do on the good days.
