Description
So here's a thing I made.
You see enough creative and beautiful custom toys out there and you start to wonder if you could do that. Or I start to wonder, anyway. Luna here was subject to a lot of trial-and-error. I think I started over three times before I got something I liked, and I made some near-fatal mistakes along the way. So I'm pleased she turned out at all.
Bait pony was Moondancer, one that suffered from "regrind" (vivid pink spots on the body). Moondancer is a unicorn, but I extended the horn to suit an alicorn princess. Both horn and wings are built on wire armature, which is stuck into the vinyl body and glued with Shoe Goo. (Great stuff, very flexible when cured.) Horn, wings, jewelry, & shoes are made of LaDoll air-dry clay. The biggest pro and con of which is that no matter how dry/hard it is, it can be made soft again with water. Multiple coats of acrylic paint should prevent that from happening. I hope.
Paint is Testors Acryl model acrylic, which is very thin & smooth. But the real magic was the Testors Dullcote spray varnish: it makes it look like the clay and vinyl are the same material. Luna's Cutie Mark and the moon on her necklace are silver paint topped with microfine glitter. For the hair, I used DollyHair colors "Midnight Magic" (a mix of black and very deep blue), "Starlight" (looks like tinsel but isn't), and "Ultraviolet". The photos don't do justice to the hair. It's extraordinary.
One last thing: Luna is for sale. She will not go cheap, but if you're interested in purchasing her, drop me a note.
