Kamsuke Kinesthe, Ganymede by sydchan Kamsuke Kinesthe, Ganymede by sydchan
EDIT: I'm removing my entry from the contest because after thinking about it, I realized I'm not in the right mindset to devote myself to such a long-term project. Too much going on in my personal life and such. I still hope the contest is held (and more of you guys should totally enter) and maybe I'll enter a few spectator entries if I'm feeling up to it down the line.

(And I'm keeping the info under this as is, if only because I don't feel like changing it and I spent too much time writing it. ;))
-------------------
Entry for :iconyaosi: (although he's not very senshi like at all so if I get disqualified, I understand completely :meow:).

So while I considered being normal and entering one of my girls for this contest, they are nicknaming this contest YAOI for short. It seemed more appropriate to enter one of my characters that's the result of mpreg (to keep with the theme and all :D).

---------------------
CIVILIAN FORM

Name: Kamsuke Kinesthe (but everyone calls him Kama)

History/Bio: Quiet and delicate, Kama is a sickly boy that has some trouble fighting (although this certainly doesn't stop him from trying). He's the only child of the previous male equivalents of Jupiter and Mercury (so yes, he's the child of two guys), but didn't inherit either of their starseeds. He instead inherited a limited control over lightning and water and can materialize both at will. His abilites favor the Jupiter side of his heritage more though so he primarily uses lightning based attacks

Due to being so frail, he's often forced to use a wheelchair. He hates this, seeing it as a sign of weakness and is constantly pushing himself to get by without it. He tends to overestimate his limits though and will often end up bedridden, especially after any tough battles. Kama also has to sometimes use his wheelchair during battle, but since his attack style consists of hiding somewhere far away and sniping the enemy from behind, this tends not to be a problem.

Luckily for him, he doesn't have to fight often. Occasionally, he and his team have to take care of stray youma, but the time period they live in is fairly peaceful. That is, until an alien threat called the Nebel invade (but that's another story).

Mostly, he spends his days going to school and hanging out with his friends when he's not stuck in bed from either exhaustion or some sort of illness. Kama is also dating Lunoir, the son of the 'big bad' his parents fought during their time as senshi. While a truce has been reached years before and he's not technically 'dating the enemy,' a deep grudge still exists between both parties. Because of this, Kama has to keep the nature of his relationship with Lunoir a secret from his parents.

Age: 15

Birthday: April 13

Personality: Quite and shy, but also fiercely determined when he wants to achieve something. Overall, he's kind and strives to help others, but has a hard time accepting help in return since he doesn't want to be a burden.

SENSHI FORM

Name: Ganymede :giggle:

Kama got his name from his teammate, Rain. He doesn't particularly like the name, due to its implications, but Rain insisted he use it. To appease her, he agreed to use it (plus she refused to call him anything else when on missions)

Home Planet: Earth

Transformation Item: To an extent, Kama is not a true senshi. He has the powers of one and could hypothetically inherit either of his parents' starseeds one day, becoming either the new Sailor Jupiter or Mercury, but he's more of a self-made senshi than anything else. Because of this, he has no fancy transformation abilities and has to change into his outfit manually.

Transformation Phrase: Doesn't have one

Transformation Sequence Info: How one usually changes clothes. He locates his outfit, gets undressed, and then changes into his disguise.

Guardian Of: JUSTICE!!! :iconsupermanplz: And just the people of Earth in general (although he doesn't really travel so I guess he's the guardian of wherever he lives)

Personality: No different than normal. He does try to stay out of his teammates' way and offer support from behind.

Attack Names: He's like a sniper so his attacks don't have names per se (can't really be shouting them out while you're attempting to be stealthy. Plus I think naming your attacks is kind of silly). He primarily uses a crossbow and shoots lightning from it. Ideally, he will do this somewhere far away and out of sight. His eye-visor acts as a sort of lock-on device to help him aim.
----------------

While Kama's a character I've had around for a while, he never had a senshi name when in his 'vigilante' form. Since I needed one for the sake of this contest, I figured I'd name him after one of Jupiter's moons, since that's where the majority of his powers derive from.

It turns out Ganymede is Jupiter's largest moon, and for those of you who know who Ganymede from Greek mythology is, I found the name too hilarious/creepily appropriate not to use. It's fits well with the whole 'yaoi' theme and Ganymede's story creepily matches Kama's intial story when I was first developing him. I decided to lighten up on the poor boy, so it doesn't fit as well now, but I still found it weird how appropriate the name was.

And that giant symbol in the background, only there to distract you from my fail attempt at a wheelchair. :D

As a side note, Kama is a character co-created between me and ~vesterpop, so a lot of the credit for his story info should go to him

I love this!
Its really really good, the colours, the background, even the hands aren't to dang shabby :)

My only suggestion is that the person on the right's leg looks off, but you can't really fix that so everytime you see it you'll just get a little more bothered, untill you go insane.

and then you can join the club

Thank you for the lovely comment and fav. :meow: I'm glad you like it.

Thank you for the lovely comment! :glomp: I also like the color combo, but I probably should have changed it up more between his two forms. :D I'm glad you think his senshi form is nice and cute since that was what I was going for. :meow: Thanks!

I really do love his personality and I'm sorry to hear that you are having to drop out of the contest but I completely understand your point. Anyways, I hope we still learn more about this character. Lovely work!

Thank you, I'm glad to hear you like his personality. :meow: And I'm still planning to enter many, if not all, of the spectator rounds, it's more the 'contest' part of it I can't bring myself to do right now (it's kind of weird actually). ^^; I'll probably rotate between a few characters, but I do plan to draw more of him. Thanks again!

I"m really loving the BG, Syddie :) You are naturally good at coloring, (Kamsuke is really cute btw <3) but use a more wide range of colors for hair and for shading.

Thank you. I know what you mean. :meow: There are a lot of areas where I could add more colors, but part of the issue is that my scanner dulls and blends my shading together so it looks like I shade less than I actually do. The cape for example has about 5 different colors in it (mainly some greens to balance out the blue), but this doesn't show up very well in the scan. I guess I just need to remember to exaggerate my shading if I want it to show up. :D His hair is also suppose to be white so I was trying not to overdue the blue, but I do see what you mean with it needing more color. :meow: Thanks for the advice. :)

Also, I presume you know about the highlight, base, and shade stuff, right?
(The highlight is a warm color, the shade is a cool color)
For instance, Red can be the base, Yellow can be the warm and Purple can be the cool color. That way it creates depth since warm colors come forward and cool colors push back.
Hm... Do you sometimes upload the line-art onto your comp and then color using PS? Because sometimes the colors turn out too saturated. But other than that, their really good =D

I know a bit about that concept (from art classes I've taken) but I don't use them as much as I should. I've always found that while it looks really cool, I also tend to overdue it so the colors are very rainbowey (and if I want to just do a reference picture of a character as opposed to an illustration, I want the colors to be right more than I want depth). Although truthfully, I'm just lazy when it comes to shading (and just drawing in general). ^^; I'll take what you said to heart and see if I can slowly force myself to try that more.

I sometimes upload my art and color it in photoshop, but usually I just use colored pencils (mainly since coloring takes 3 times longer on photoshop). And yeah, they are too saturated, but I kind of suck at using photoshop (and coloring in general) so it's to be expected. :meow: Thanks for the advice though. :)

Ohh I see :) LOL don't force yourself. It'll gradually come to you (except for me. I had to learn the hard way :icondepressedonionplz:)
You don't suck. Trust me. Your coloring on hand is much better than mine. I can't color with pencil crayons even if my life depended on it xD.
Just do quick exercises and watch tutorials. Actually, use SAI if you want to practice coloring. It's much more simpler and free :D
No prob syddie =D

Thank you for your kind words. :) I do still want to participate in some of the rounds (at least I'm assuming that's what spectator entries are. People who aren't part of the main tournament drawing their own picture of whatever the current round's theme is. Correct me if I'm wrong though :meow:).

And I wish you luck in getting the tornament going. Hopefully more people will join, but at this rate, I'm not sure how many people are still making their entries. :( Do you think you guys are going to have to give some sort of time extension, or are you going to go ahead with the people you have?

I'm really glad to hear that you do plan to do spectator entries, and you're perfectly correct about what spectator entries would be.
We're probably going to go with an extension, I'm not sure on how long the extension will be for, as there still needs to be some discussion about it. We're also going to have to try and do more for group advertising, which would hopefully increase interest and membership.

Would it be alright if I asked for some credit for Kama, considering I named him and most of the information you put for him was thought up my me, pls? :poke: Not trying to be whiny, I just feel like he's my OC, too, and any characters I made or helped you make should still be credited to me in some way. Otherwise it's like my beautiful babies aren't mine anymore! :(

But all whininess aside, this is an AMAZING picture! I REALLY REALLY like the senshi form of Kama! Kama himself is adorable, but his senshi form is so adorable and amazing! (Sidenote-wouldn't having to change manually for a useless outfit be more effort than it is worth?) Anyway, this is awesome!!!! I love Kama! I hope you win the contest!! <3<3

Anyway, all I want is a "Kama is the property of myself and vesterpop" at the very end or something. That'd be great! :D

I'm sorry for upsetting you. :( The only reason I entered Kama was because I thought you might like to see more drawings of him, I wasn't trying to step on your toes or anything by claiming he was all mine (guess I should have stuck with my original idea of entering Nikita though. I could always remove my entry and enter a different character if you prefer. I'd be perfectly alright with that).

I was debating whether I should add a note about a lot of the info being your idea, but I don't tend to add copywrite info about the characters belonging to the two of us since I find it weird when other people do that. I only add the "my OC" line so I don't have to deal with people asking what series the characters are from.

I'll add the info about the character being mostly your idea though. :meow: And I do have a blanket statement in the info in my 'Sailor Male' folder saying the characters are co-created between us. That's the other reason why I don't add that info to all the drawings since I figured it would get repetitive.

I'm glad you like the picture though. And the outfit changing thing is because I kind of dislike the whole magical transformation thing (seems too easy). I blame the fact I grew up on superhero shows where they usually have to actually change into their costumes or wear their costume all the time. Plus, I originally didn't imagine Kama having a senshi form so the costume was more for the sake of the contest. I agree though, it would be more effort than it's worth :D (at least the head-visor thing is useful though, so I imagine he at least carries that around with him all the time).

Again, sorry for upsetting you. :( I really wasn't trying to. :iconcryforeverplz:

No! I really didn't want to come across as upset! I'm not even mad about it, so please realize that I am in no way mad. I just figured if it bothered me I should just say something! I really hope you don't take him down since a lot of Kama is your creation, too and I think you did a great job drawing him :D I love it! I just feel like entering a contest using some of my ideas and then not mentioning that I helped in some way is a little sad. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. However, I guess the fact that your Sailor Male folder having the statement that the characters are mostly co-creations of us is nice, it's just not really seen, lol.

Yea, something tells me Kama would just not even bother with the outfit most of the time and just opt to use the cool visor thing for its awesome technology.

Anyway, much love! I really hope I didn't come across as a whiny bitch, because that's not what I was going for at all. I'm not even mad. I just wanted to mention it because it bothered me a little bit. (:3) (^3^) Love!! :D

It's fine. :) It was insensitive of me to not even consider that that might be a possible issue. And I decided to just drop out of the contest anyway (for other reasons). It was stupid of me to enter. :P

I figured the outfits would be if they specifically went out on certain nights to do some youma hunting or when heading out to face the Nebel(the outfit is probably reinforced for extra protection, so there would be some advantage to wearing it). But he certainly wouldn't bother changing into it if he was in a hurry. :D

And no, you didn't come off as a whiny. You just came off as really upset, but trying to hide how upset you were. So again, sorry. :( And much love back.

Kay... not sure how that's possible, but ?! I wonder if you could grow a life form by combining the opposite chromosomes of two males? Seems like it'd be missing something essential still, but maybe it's just magic? IDK... I had a race of people in KOTG that were born from the union of a guy and a plum tree... :)

In real life, such a thing wouldn't work (maybe with heavy scientific intervention it'd some day be possible, but naturally, I realize such a thing wouldn't work out). And the more I try to come up with a somewhat biologically sound explaination, the less sense it makes. ^^;

Mostly, I explain mpreg by saying it's the power of magic, but as my friend below explained, in this story, we sort of went with the idea of what if a YY chromosome combination was possible without the child just dying (as opposed to real life where at least one X chromosome is absolutely needed for the baby to survive.) In this case, YY was more of a third sex so the individual would have both male and female characteristics. Externally, they're more male, but they have a lot of internal female sex characteristics that give them the ability to get pregnant. So to some degree, they aren't even true males, they're more intersex (so it's arguable not mpreg anymore).

The idea was the main villain came from an alternant reality/world that ran by these rules with the three different sexes and through magic, messed with the main characters and the ability to get pregnant was a side effect (depending on the version of the story. Sometimes it was a gift from Seri as opposed to a side effect).

Not sure if that wordy explaination made any sense, but the idea is it's just how this fantasy setting worked. And I still don't think it's that weird in the whole scheme of weird fantasy things people have come up with. :XD: Greek mythology gets a lot weirder in the ways some of those gods were born. :meow:

And a guy and a tree? I can only assume that was a shapeshifting tree or a lot of magic was involved in their creation. :D

I guess I was just wondering about where the kid would gestate if it was a guy getting pregnant... does he have a uterus? If so, wouldn't that make him not a guy? Guess it's not important... but thanks for the explanation... guess it depends on your definition of male/female... for example... a woman could have a "sex change" but keep her insides the same, and be able to have children as a "man."

The tree thing in KOTG is kinda more like the spirit of the tree... they sort of join their spirits together and the children are born out of the new seeds that the tree produces.

Going with the YY idea, yes, the guy has a uterus. Even when I use the "it's magic" explaination, I figured some sort of temporary uterus would have to be created.

And yeah, that was kind of the issue with the explanation I used for this story. It's not really mpreg when the guy getting pregnant is partially female. I guess I just wanted to play around with having a sex in between male and female for some of my characters (while not worring about how nonsensical it all is). :D

And I suppose that's true about the how you view male/female thing. But a sex change is a bit different since she started out female and is still partially female. She's only considered male since that's how she wishes to be viewed. But that's another topic entirely. :)

The tree thing in KOTG sounds interesting. The spirits joining actually makes some sense if they come from seeds (although that sort of implies these people are either fairly small or the tree has huge seeds). :meow:

The weillani or "wood elves" are originally born from this sort of magical "spirit union" and they are "human sized"... so the seeds started out small, like plum-pit size, but the flowers that sprouted from them were quite huge... and the first weillani emerged from the flowers... after the first generation of weillani were born they interbred with each other, and with normal humans... :)

Yes, I see how your thing could work possibly... takes a while to grasp your concept of "maleness" though... :)

Actually Sydney, just throwing in that people can have YY chromosomes, if I'm not mistaken. It usually makes them very aggressive and they are sterile, but I think it actually can happen. :D Which is odd. But I would totally love to see the plum tree people! :D

When I researched it on the internet, all the sites I looked at claimed that if a baby only had YY chromosomes, they'd die instantly (or more accuratly, never begin to develope). Something about the X chromosome having required genes for humans to live. I think you're thinking of XYY which is possible and I think some studies have found it can correlate with aggression (I don't think it usually makes you sterile though). Maybe the internet is lying to me though and I'm wrong about all this. :meow:

And plumb tree people would be awesome, although I keep picturing them as flowery elves. :D

The idea was that a male could YY chromosomes (in our version) if they were irradiated with the power of the silver crystal and one of the traits of this chrosomal change was the ability to conceive children (don't as why, lol). Hence, the child of this conception would either be male or of the third new gender. Kama is YY and so is his mother/father, Sailor Male Mercury, who was given the ability to have children with Sailor Jupiter as a parting gift from Sailor Male Moon. Confusing, I know. But that's the idea.
