So I've been wondering lately which style I prefer, painted or cel-shaded, and have my own opinions of the pros and cons of both, but I was curious what you think and why.  So I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one you prefer.  Thanks!

Both are excellent, but I like the cel shaded one best, just gives it that extra comic book feel.

Both of these are beautiful and cool! I would probably decide between the two based on what the idea was behind the overall piece of art.

I think B works better for the pointy style for sure. However you are good at painting, like really good. Maybe a little of both, or whenever you feel like it fits the composition better?

I think A is best for portraits or big, still pieces of art. But I think B is definitely good for some quick projects that require a lot of smaller branches to it, like comics, animations, etc. (I prefer A overall though.)

The depth and colors seem so rich in the painted version! Not to mention the textures, also. But both look nice and I'm having difficulty choosing between them, honestly. Wonderful work!

Painted seems more appropriated for... well, painting, in the sense of a picture supposed to remain frozen, capturing the epicness/tension of a moment.
For example : every ending of a DBZ episode or those shots popping into Spongebob Squarepants to show detailed features.

Cel-shaded, on the other side, keeps the idea of movement, velocity, even so it also remains unchanged.
For example : Anime Version of OnePunchMan or modern comics.

But, that is just my humble opinion.

The cel shaded accomodates the sharpness of the silouhette better. I mean, thats what all your hard work was for, right? Go with cel shaded.

I would usually choose Painted but I think Cel-Shaded fits your pointy style even better, because there are some details that the painting can't show...(like the hair: it's pointy shape goes a lot better with the style on the right, while in the painting it's kind of concealed)
I'm no expert, just stating my opinion XD

The painted one offers more depth in my opinion, especially with the geometric shapes you have around the picture. Because your style is so dynamic seeing it in a painted form makes it feel more alive in a sense. Hope this helps! You're amazing <3

B. Cel-shaded
Maybe it's just personal taste, but I think it works better with the sharp edges of the forms you're using.

I really don't know. I suppose it depends on the final goal, like B would suit a comic better and A for an illustration.

It realy depends on WHY you make a certain art. For an art full of action cel-shaded is a good pick. In a more still, emotional work, I think painted is the right pick. But it depends on so many other things, it's realy hard to pick the better.

I saw on a schoolism lighting course a rendering that is a bit furhter than cell shading, but not too much, I think that one would be perfect for you.

the painted one loses the sharp style, you can't strive for pointyness then make the coloring soft. If you want pointy, it looks best to color sharply as well.

CEL SHADED CEL SHADED CEL SHADED

dead serious the cel shaded style is you. It has webtoon potential but no its even more than that. The render kills your sharp style while cel shaded supports your style way better.
I would seriously kill to see a short story of yours in the right style. Its going to look very awesome. Im not the person to really tell you what to do but do more of that right one simply because
i would really love to see more of that. No need to screw around with other styles sycra go for it. Sry if this comment sounds demanding i dont usually comment like a dick but yeah really trying to get it across.

I feel like you did that style earlier already but in this piece it hits it just right. Also i know you mentioned something weird about hair one time. In this piece you really made the hair like its own sharp organic thing ish.
Not the typical flowy style. Anyway im drifting off. Go for it go for cel all the way man :)

Although cell-shading stands out more and defines/exaggerates the features, painting has a more "wispy" feel to it, allowing a mystical and traditional atmosphere as well. I honestly don't know which to choose.
