summary: AU - None believed that the hate-filled words of a little girl could still live on after more then 200 years, but when strange events start occurring in London the city's only hope of survival lies with one mouse ... and a rat?

Hya all! It has been too long, that it has :aww: But now I am back with a little treat :D - well, I least I hope.

Yes, you guessed it: Whispers in the Dark has just been updated :D Would have updated it sooner but three things happened much in the same time: I didn't have any free time left for anything other then sleep, I kept changing my mind and last but not least: this was turning into a monster! Reason why I had to split it in half (the other half being unfinished ... ) but hopefully, next update won't be a month away from now XD

Now, concerning the pic - SPOILER! Though there are so many things happening in this chapter - things that (I think) deserved to be illustrated ... - I ended up drawing Thinker in her moment of complete terror because: I really wanted to draw snow (when there are 38C outside XD) and because I already had this scene doodled somewhere in my sketchbook so ya' XD

Anyway - gonna get some ice-cream. Meanwhile, enjoy :D

:star::star::star::star::star: Overall
:star::star::star::star::star: Vision
:star::star::star::star::star: Originality
:star::star::star::star::star: Technique
:star::star::star::star::star: Impact

Vision: At my initial view, I didn't know what was going on other than it being a moment of horror. Poor Think is frightened by something, and convincingly so, enough to grab my attention. If someone were to view this and say, "That character looks like it's watching a horrible event" and had never read the story, then the artist has succeeded in her task. 5.0

Originality: It's not the first time the 'hero' sits in a hiding place and witnesses a crime in progress. However, I have to give full marks when I don't believe I've ever seen a bumblebee hiding in leaves and snow. 5.0

Technique: For a nature environment, it looks like a lot of various paint blotches. The leaves are soft and smooth along with the outer view of the snow. On the left and right sides of the picture, those look like miniature branches again in paint blotches. The technique is basically soft and solid, her usual style, and I like it quite a bit. 5.0

Impact: Fear, and lots of it from the subject. I also get a cold, tense and uncomfortable sensation. Her eyes bring sympathy to me as well as a desire to wishing she were in a safer and warmer place. 5.0

What program do you use? Photoshop?
sycamoreleaf's avatar
Yup. Photoshop CS2 all the way ^^
I tried other programs such as Corel Paint Essentials, Open Canvas and Sai in the past as alternatives (and still use Sai for sketches :lol: ), but it seems that despite everything Photoshop still remains the best program for me ;) (even if it times it can "freeze" - but as longs as I remember to restart my pc before starting work and don't open Firefox, then all's well :aww: )

:iconawwwplz: Thank you!
I hope you also like the chapter (as in, tha' written words) that go with it :aww: It certainly was a challenge to write it :XD:

Oh I adore the art, its lovely. But the fic is what I hang out for. <3

BTW, I feel sorry for darling little Midget. Poor love.
sycamoreleaf's avatar
"Poor love" indeed. He's such a sweet boy, but the world just happened to be cruel with him up until now. But who knows - maybe things can change *hint, hint*;)

YES! *punches the air*

Wow, this is amazing. By the looks of what I presume is blood, I fear something horrible has happened.
sycamoreleaf's avatar
Hmm ... maybe? >:3 Something horrible always seems to happen when there's a case afoot ... otherwise things would get pretty boring XD (yet I somehow imagine dear Thinker doesn't quite agree with me on that one). But at least the rest of the chapter compensates for that one small scene ... :evillaugh:

By the way ... how do you like it so far?
sycamoreleaf's avatar
I see at least someone's been looking forward to it :D

Yesh!! :woohoo: I missed you and yer story and yer art! :D I meant to say something longer and more constructive, but I wanted to be the first to show mah enthusiasm. Well, I plan on a critique after reading the chapter. From what I see so far, Thinker looks mighty afeared! :wow:
sycamoreleaf's avatar
Well, Thinker is a coward since birth, so no matter what would be happening, she would definitely be more affected by it then most ... most of the times that is XD

And I will definitely await that critique! :D Your words always manage to make smile - not to mention seem to offer me the motivation to keep going! :#1:

Both she and Olivia make a cute pair. I love how you're writing them! :aww: Just sent it off. Hope I wasn't too wordy! :D

Writing children in general is tons of fun :D Their natural naivety makes then a treat to work with ... And when you happen to be writing an awesome child like Olivia things certainly get interesting :D (because everybody knows that's how she is ;) - a true model for children everywhere!)

And I got it! :D And no - it wasn't too wordy. It made me happy, very happy in fact :iconawwwplz:
Brinatello's avatar
It really is a joy to write them, especially with Olivia as the star. Little unpredictable moments make for great scenes with her. :nod: Oh, I'm so happy that you're happy! YAY!! :iconawwplz:
