[STORY] Operation: Destroy All Monsters! Chap03
Chapter 3
-----------------------------------
"The Zoo"
Guadalupe Mountains, Southeastern New Mexico
1959
The Rhedosaurus lazily floated in the (relatively) small body of water like a crocodile, belly fat on meat and fish. With the exception of... maybe... the Mantis, this creature had adapted well to it's quarters. At least, that's what Professor Thomas Nesbitt certainly hoped was the case as he watched the mighty lizard. It was almost comical, when he took time to think about it, how much things had changed since the first time the Professor laid eyes upon this time-lost dinosaur.
Despite being barely six years ago, it regardless felt like an entirely different life before the mighty beast awoke. A different life... and a different world... one that wasn't (at least as far as the Professor knew) filled with monsters and mutants. When the biggest concern on his mind was the results of his nuclear testing, and maybe... possibly... the cumulative effects thereof.
In a way, he certainly

[COM] Cosmos by KukuruyoArt
A commission done by the ever-talented :iconkukuruyoart: of the robotic governor of fictional Kiryuku, Cosmos.

Still slowly developing this character. Primarily in regards to another (so far unrevealed) character idea I'm developing, as well as stuff involving his final battle as 'Boy Cosmos' (as well as the immediate aftermath) and other such concepts.

Just really LOVE how Kukuruyo handled this commission. The dynamic pose, the facial expression, and so on. :la: :hooray:

Thank you so very much dude! I love it!!

Other facts and aspects of Cosmos can be found here.

Oh for fuck’s sake!!! Paramount still plans to continue the Bayverse story??? Despite Bumblebee getting near-universal acclaim and CLEARLY contradicting the cluttered shit mess that Bay’s Transformers were, they want to still forge ahead despite previously saying that Bumblebee’s movie was a god damn reboot!!

Sprite Stuff: Acroyear
Something that just popped into my head while reading some of the latest 'Revolution' stuff from IDW.

Acroyear from the Micronauts. One of those peculiar toy lines from the 80's that seemed to have everything... BUT a cartoon to it's name. It had a pretty long-running Marvel comic from about 1979-1986, more or less where alot of the mythos for this property was created. But after Marvel's ownership of the license lapsed, there had been brief (though memorable) runs in both Image Comics and Devil's Due Publishing, before finally landing at IDW Publishing with other Hasbro properties.

These said properties (Micronauts, Rom, Action Man, MASK, etc.) have since been combined into a shared comic universe with IDW's other/previous Hasbro-owned properties Transformers and GI JOE.

The basic idea with the Micronauts is that they hail from the Microverse (aka: the 'Quantum Realm'), where they battle the dreaded despot Baron Karza (think Doctor Doom mixed with Darth Vader). When they finally breach the dimensional realms between their world and ours, they're basically action figure-height. Yet like Ant-Man, they're not to be underestimated.

So I decided to make a sprite for Acroyear. The idea is that this sprite is meant be, compared to the other (USUAL) sprites I've posted, he's meant to be (more or less) proportional to how tall he'd be if I were to make him an actual MUGEN project.

He's meant to be this small. :P

Used 'Captain America & the Avengers' sprites to craft this. Captain America's body for the base, Crossbone's arms and boots, and the head of Grim Reaper. All edited of course. ;)

Sword is more or less from scratch.

Hope it looks good.

EDIT: Added some more poses. Hope they still look good.

This is crazy. At one point in time Sega was trying to make a football game with the Alien vs Predator license. Cosmic Hard Bowl. I shit you not: geektyrant.com/news/sega-genes…
Some of you might remember THIS old journal:  Ramble - The New 'Doom' MovieWhile news at this point is still piecemeal, it seems Universal is trying to make a new Doom movie.
All we've seen so far is characters who don't look like the Doom Marine/Doom Slayer, though the studio swears he's gonna appear. Which gets my overly-imaginative brain working... and makes me wonder about two possibilities. Which probably give Universal WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT if true.
Oh well... time to ramble.
This movie could either be A) a prequel of sorts to the 2016 game... showing how things at the UAC facility on Mars went sideways as characters fight to survive... the attempts by the likes of Samuel Hayden and co. to try and fix/contain the escalating situation, and maybe ends with the Doom Slayer appearing and getting on with the 'Rip & Tear'... or B) a side-story that occurs during the game's central storyline as survivors of this hellish nightmare fighting to escape to give us new insight into the situation on other parts of the station/facility as the Slayer stomps a planet-

Well, it turns out ALL of my theories were WRONG, imagine that right? Looks like they went the 'quick and shitty' route. Can't believe I had given this ANY shred of benefit of the doubt. Course I didn't know that A) it was going to be 'Direct-to-Video' when I wrote the journal, and/or B) that it was going to be a really cheap-looking Direct-to-Video release at that.

Talking Uwe Boll-levels of cheap.

Seriously, when SyFy channel movies look like they could EASILY dunk on your production values, things're in some serious trouble. OH and when they assured Doom fans that the 'Doom Slayer' was going to be in this... it was a bit of a lie it seems. Unless the trailer really is true and the team of bland Space Marines are actually considered the 'Doom Slayers' in question. e__e;;

So unless they release another trailer showing some ACTUAL Doom-level stuff, I'm filing this under the 'Wasted Potential' category. THAT and regret having had ANY hopes for this.

Sprite Stuff: Cunber
Been trying to get back into Dragon Ball spriting. This was the result of a random 'wild hair' bout of inspiration.

Introduced in the 'Super Dragon Ball Heroes' promotional anime (for a collectible card game in Japan), this big bastard is supposedly an 'Ancient Saiyan' plucked from the chains of time & space by the mischievous demonic youth 'Fu' for his plan to bring together a whole load of powerful individuals on a literal 'prison planet' to (presumably) fight for his amusement. As one can imagine, this blows up in his face once the Time Patrol gets involved and this mysterious fiend is one of those who is set loose in the interim.

Cunber is described as 'the Evil Saiyan' by others, and his abilities/nature seem to reflect that moniker. Just being exposed to his aura can cause those of his race to go violently berserk if they aren't careful, as Goku finds out... much to the other heroes chagrin.

And like Superman foe Doomsday, even being put into restraints doesn't seem to slow this bastard down, if anything he seems to keep them on for sheer sport. Cunber only frees himself when he actually needs to start taking things seriously. Even then, he seems to want to keep the 'Hannibal Lecter' mask on, for reasons that have yet to be explained. He does a pretty good job fighting two sets of Goku and Vegeta (Super versions AND versions based on GT era), in their myriad and powerful forms. Not only that, he seems capable of accessing Super Saiyan forms as well, and seems to be familiar with the 'Super Saiyan God' form.

It isn't until 'Super Canon' Goku taps into 'Ultra Instinct' that Cunber is even remotely put on the ropes. His unconscious body is then confiscated by a cabal of villains (having, apparently, been brought together on said 'Prison Planet') and brought into their plans for what is now dubbed the 'Universal Conflict' arc.

There's just something I like about Cunber. Maybe because he's like O.G. Broly, only with a far more mysterious backstory and motivation. As I said in my most recent journal entry, if there's a counterpoint/dark mirror to the concept of the 'Super Saiyan God', then I'm willing to reckon that whatever powers Cunber's wrath is probably it.

Made this sprite using 'Extreme Butoden' sprites. Used Broly's body, a mixture of Raditz's face (and hair) with that of the Legendary Super Saiyan, the hair from Goku's SSJ3 form, pants and boots from Dabura, belt from 'Base' Goku, and the tail from SSJ4 Goku. Everything else is additions and tweaks I put in.

Hope it looks good.

Saw Captain Marvel. Pretty cool movie. Don’t really see where the movie-born controversy has come from. Outside of a scene going back into her memories showing how she had to struggle a bit, but half of that you could see on something like G.I. Jane. I can also separate the person from the character they play, so Ms Larson’s stupid bullshit can remains that... stupid bullshit
IDW’s Go-Bots comic feels like a throwback to the days when guys like Simon Furman and Larry Hama wrote strangely serious and at times DARK comic books based on toy franchises.
With Broly's recent upgrade/tweak into official Main Canon status, here are a few characters considered 'Non-Canon' (ie: Movies, Games, etc.) that I wouldn't mind ever seeing given similar treatment.

In no particular order, for the most part.

-Android 21
Introduced in the supremely stellar 'FighterZ' fighting game, she's one of the few female main villains of the media franchise. A bio-android of sorts (like Cell) based off of the late Dr. Gero's wife/significant other, whose program was kept going by his supercomputer, which explains how she somehow got a bit of 'Majin' DNA in her design during her own program's collection cycle.

This in turn creates a VERY devastatingly powerful (and HUNGRY) entity with a mixture of various abilities, eventually splitting off into two seperate individuals (ala Fat Buu and Kid Buu) when her warring inner-nature gets to a breaking point. I really enjoyed the interactions both versions had with the main cast, and the personalities therein of 'Good' & 'Bad' Android 21.

Since I tend to REALLY like the Android concept of Dragon Ball, I of course would LOVE to see her make an official appearance outside of FighterZ.

-Cooler
For some reason have always (at times) slightly dug Frieza's 'older brother' more than the 'Galactic Emperor' himself. It must've been his initial motivation for getting involved with Goku & co. Revenge for the slights against his family (even if he didn't particularly LIKE them himself at times) made him a character with alot more interesting personality than what we tended to get at the time when it came to Dragon Ball villains. He wasn't after the Dragon Balls, Cooler wasn't after power, he simply felt that he had to avenge his family's honor. Plus he wasn't a huge dick to his subordinates like his sibling tended to be.

While Toriyama is quite adamant that really only King Cold and Frieza are the main heads of this dynastic family dictatorship in the main continuity, whose to say Cooler couldn't have been the 'Black Sheep'? Maybe he was exiled by his father for not possessing the 'mutant' gene that Cold and Frieza supposedly have? Just saying I wouldn't mind seeing him brought into official canon.

Not too terribly fond of the 'Meta Cooler' concept though.

-Cunber
If ever there was a dark counterpoint/counterpart to the 'Super Saiyan God' concept of post-DBZ/GT Saiyan lore, then whatever the hell is up with the villainous Cunber from the 'Super Dragon Ball Heroes' promotional anime has to be it. Supposedly an 'Ancient Saiyan' plucked from the chains of time & space by the mischievous demonic youth 'Fu', the mysterious Cunber is simply described as 'the Evil Saiyan', and his abilities/nature seem to reflect that moniker. Just being exposed to his aura can cause those of his race to go berserk if they aren't careful.

And like Superman foe Doomsday, even being put into restraints don't seem to slow this big bastard down, if anything he seems to keep them on for sheer sport. Cunber only frees himself when he actually needs to start taking things seriously. And from how he acts towards Goku and Vegeta... he seems to not only know of (and possess) the power of Super Saiyan... Cunber seems to have had some previous history with the 'Super Saiyan God' form in his time.

So I think it'd be pretty interesting to seeing him developed outside of this promotional anime, as the idea of this truly DARK Saiyan would pretty cool if tweaked more. Maybe there really WAS a reason for the need to create the 'Super Saiyan God' form and something like Cunber was it?

Speaking of characters introduced in 'Super Dragon Ball Heroes'...

-Oren & Kamin
Feel like these recently introduced characters from the currently ongoing 'Universal Conflict Arc' are WAY more interesting Tuffle-related creations than the pretty CRAPTACULAR character of 'Baby', whom they share traits/similarities with. They've also got an interesting 'Sibling' dynamic going on, similar to Androids 17 & 18. They also didn't seem to have much trouble with guys like Hit, having been given the necessary data on the time-skipping assassin beforehand to help them counter his abilities.

While it's becoming more than a bit clear that most (if not ALL) of the GT era of Dragon Ball is getting retconned/written out... would prefer that THESE two become the replacement for 'Baby'. Maybe combine some ideas and making them a trio with the next selection?

-Hatchiyak
For some reason this character (from the NES game 'Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku' and subsequent remasterings/remakes) has stuck out to me since learning of his existence. Maybe it's his design? The backstory? I don't know, but this 'Tuffle Revenge Plan' made manifest always intrigued me. Despite the fact that he has one GLARING weakness, and due to having been originally created for various video games... has no real consistency in what he's capable of, just always dug this big bastard.

He certainly (IMHO) kicks the shit out of characters like Baby that's for sure.

I guess I just like stuff that's tied into the series lore and backstories. This threat from the history of the Saiyan race, this last ditch effort by the Tuffles to get revenge on those who wiped them out, could be interesting to see brought into main continuity... and given a new 'coat of paint' and more development. Maybe he could be allied/partnered with Oren and Kamin? Maybe the 'siblings' were meant to be the 'Perfect Cell' of the Tuffle people and Hatchiyak was put there as a bodyguard/caretaker?

Honorable Mentions:
-Lord Slug (despite all the issues with the movie, dug Slug's design. Also really dug how he acted and played in Xenoverse 2)

-Android 13 (An android that makes itself stronger by absorbing parts from his fellow machines is a pretty sweet concept)

-Turles (I always enjoyed the movie, but REALLY love the concepts some fans have created where he's the cousin of Goku, son of Bardock's brother... not to mention his role in the stellar 'Dragon Ball Zero' fan manga)

Sprite Stuff: Black Manta (16-bit Style)
As stated in the previous submission, was inspired by the stellar work of ZVitor, so tried my hand at making sprites in the classic SNES-esque 16-bit style.

It's funny how, like his enemy Aquaman, Black Manta has gone from joke to serious badass. Well, technically, he had to go a lot longer than Arthur to finally get someone who gave enough of a shit to handle him well. The mid-90's really didn't do this guy any favors with the bizarre 'Underworld Unleashed' event that left him as a literal human-manta hybrid. :unentertained:

Anyway, he's since (from 2003-onward) become one of the DC Universe's more brutal bastards... and more than a bit bloodthirsty.

Mainly just a test to see if I could make a sprite based on him. Then, in a surprising turn of events, found myself making more poses! :D

Used the 'Justice League Task Force' (SNES version) Aquaman's body as base, took the arms from the mini-sentinels from the X-Men arcade game, the knives originally belonged to enemies Mary & Eliza from the SNES game 'Final Fight 2', and the helmet started life as the helmet from the 'Elite Ptolemaic' soldier from 'Metal Slug 5'.

Hope this looks good.

EDIT: Added two new poses.

Saw “Alita: Battle Angel”, was pretty badass! Highly recommended
Sprite Stuff: Lobo (16-bit Style)
Another '16-Bit Style' sprite, this time for the 'Main Man', the 'Ultimate Bastitch' himself... Lobo... the Last Czarnian and baddest-ass bounty hunter in the cosmos.

Yeah, I'm quite fond of this guy.

Sadly, feels like DC Comics barely seems to care about him anymore. The 'New 52' did this character zero favors, and while it seems like ever since 'Rebirth' the original article has been (thankfully) restored... it still doesn't feel like he's a very liked character amongst the DC Comics staff. Hopefully whatever movie they have planned will change that.

Made this using the body of a character from a rather obscure SNES fighter 'Doomsday Warrior', a wrestling post-apocalyptic-looking clown named Amon. Took the head of wrestler 'King Rasta Mon' (aka: 'Missing IQ' Gomes) from 'Saturday Night Slam Masters', chain comes from the arcade brawler 'Vendetta', belt pouches come from the Genesis port of the 'Punisher' arcade game.

Hope it looks good. :D

Not too worried with all the controversy currently surrounding the Captain Marvel movie. I'd like to think that since it's a HUGE cash cow, and has been (unlike Star Wars and Kathleen Kennedy) under tighter creative control by the likes of Kevin Feige, for a DECADE... would be under bigger studio scrutiny.
Well, despite losing my wallet, here’s some definite good news, Bumblebee has been officially separated from the Bayverse!! news.tfw2005.com/2019/02/16/tr…

This may seem incredible out of place but it doesn't hurt to ask. Any chance we can see a sprite of the new Broly (Full Power) design in your style eventually? I think you can do it justice :3

Yes - this might be a passive hint at a request :d

 try :iconisair-dragneel: he’s doing a pretty bang-up job on DBS Broly. I think he plans to make a fully MUGEN-compatible version.

I’m not adverse to the idea, just that if you’re wanting to see this version of the Legendary Super-Saiyan in the glorious style of Extreme Butoden, then check out Isair.
