Switzerland
Profile picture taken by :iconmoonymina: on September 16, 2018, Le Saut du Doubs, right behind me (Thank you!!!)

Although I've been living in Switzerland for more than half of my life now (since 1991), I was born and grew up in the Netherlands, close to the point where the 3 countries Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands meet.

I would never be able to go back to my rather flat home country, although it also has many, many lovely places: I just love to be out here in the swiss mountains, no matter at what time of the year (only when it's raining I stay at home). Every season has its special beauty, you just have to look with your heart.

Next to hiking I have a passion for photography. With a camera in my hands I look at things quite differently.

I love to listen to good music as well. For me music is related to memories of the past. For nearly every occasion I know a fitting song...... (as Leto Atreides said about Gurney Halleck: One day I will say something to which he has no song in reply and the guy will look ridiculous)

Languages: Dutch, english, french, german, swiss german

Have to admit something, but please don't tell anyone: I'm addicted to chocolate (just keep it secret)....

To everyone, who has given me a llama and not gotten one in return: Please leave me a private note and you'll get one

This is my final goodbye to dA. From now on I will no longer be submitting photos or whatsoever. After my last journal I took the time to think things over. I found out, that I prefer something smaller and this is going to be my own website. The link thereto can be found many times in the comments below my former journal.

It's no easy decision, but I prefer a much more quiet life.

Currently I will not (yet) deactivate my dA-account.

Nevertheless: My thanks for all the support many of you gave me during the 3 1/2 years I was on dA. With several of you I still hope to be in touch in the future and look forward to meeting you in real life.

Goodbye and take care, please.

If dA is going to switch to eclipse, I want to leave. Who would follow me to another site and stay in touch with me?

I just had another look at it and I simply don't like it.
you won't know the rain from the tears in my eyes
you'll never know, that I still love you so
only heartaches remain, I'll do my crying in the rain

A wet, very wet day in Switzerland today, but I was lucky!

The day started quite funny as I received a message from my eldest son at about 5.10 am: "morning Dad, going for a hike today?"
I didn't see it until about 7.30 am, sitting in the train on my way south. I wrote "already awake? YOU???" "Well", he wrote, "I came back home from a party and saw the lights burning in your apartment....." :D (Big Grin) :D (Big Grin) :D (Big Grin) It's quite typical: I leave home for a tour when others come back from parties (it seems I'm getting old) ;) (Wink)

I started at Le Col de La Tourne (1129 m alt) at 9.04 am, slowly moving up to Les Tablettes (1288 m alt) through the last remainders of this winter's snow. It was quite foggy, with every now and then a soft drizzle from the fog covering the summit. It was quite a bit better following the trail west along the crest and through the forests with only heavy water drops falling down from the trees every now and then, shaken off by the fiery winds (of chaos). At Solmont I turned left at the "Mur des Polonais" (this name I learned further down in Fretereules). This is what this wall looked like a few weeks ago:

Jura-2126, The wall of Solmont by swissnaturelover

Apparently this wall was built by fugitives from Poland during World War II, didn't know it and didn't find any hints in the internet so soon.

From Fretereules I continued steep down to Champ-du-Moulin along a very muddy trail (my shoes got messed up completely, but I just cleaned them back home), and from Champ-du-Moulin I once more crossed the lower Areuse Canyon (sometimes a shy sun tried to push through, sometimes soft rain came falling down) and arrived at the railway station of Bôle at about 2.40 pm.

And driving back north by train I found the northern part of Switzerland tormented by the pouring rain..... I was lucky to have escaped it

Hey 👋

So I have to apologize. I recently discovered that you can’t have more than 5,000 friends on DA. Therefor I’ve had to offload some people. If you follow me, I will follow you again (at least till I’ve amassed 5,000 again). If you follow my niece and nephew’s band (see my signature for a link to their SoundCloud page which in turn will lead you to their Facebook and Twitter accounts) I will mark you as special, and will follow your DA page till the end of time.

You have great art 👍🏼

If you follow Flora on Twitter (@FloraMusicAK) I will give you a shoutout 😊
