Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler!
Hope y'all are all doing well! Those of us in areas that celebrate Mardi Gras/Carnival certainly are!
Some, may be a little too
much, if that's possible.
We had a drunken, bead-adorned college student try to break into our apartment Friday night at 1:30 am, dead set that it was his
house. Being greeted by two gun-wielding residents didn't dissuade him of that. At least, not right away. Watching his eyes get bigger than saucers was rather amusing, though. Not sure what scared him more; having someone draw down on him, or being told he attempted to break into the home of an off-duty officer. A shame I didn't have a camera handy for his reaction. (First instinct was to go for my gun, since the guy was trying to ram the door down with his shoulder when he realized his key didn't work.) Fun stuff, fun stuff. The Spanish Town Parade yesterday was a ball, even if I showed up a wee bit late (I overslept
). There was still plenty of food, plenty of booze and PLENTY of beads! I saw some hilarious and crazy costumes, made some new friends, visited with some old ones and generally had a damn good time. Tell you what, though, my dogs are TIRED!
We did some serious walking, yesterday, both for parking and to locate a friend of mine who was on-duty. All worth it, though!

Mini-Contest Entrants & Winners
Many, many thanks to everyone who entered! Y'all had some incredibly good - and in some cases, very well thought out - suggestions. I was hard pressed to settle on just one. So much so, that I enlisted the aid of both my husband and the cousin who bestowed this great gift upon me. Since we three are going to be the most direct influences in the young filly's life, it seemed only fitting that they join me in making this decision. Both of them singled out one name immediately, after seeing them all, making for a clear winner. My husband liked the name so much, he refused to even suggest a "second best". Laura's second pick was a name I put forth, so I don't suppose that counts, so far as the contest goes.
Thank you again to all entrants! Each one of you (listed below) are encouraged to leave a comment in this journal, with the thumbnail of one
image you'd like me to feature. It can be one of your own, or someone else you'd like to see featured. As with previous features, I ask that no offensive or sexually charged images be left and reserve the right to request another.
It's not much, I know, but I'd like to show my appreciation to all of those who joined in.Honorable Mention
- If your icon is listed below, please choose a second thumbnail for an image you'd like featured.
- With a prize of art from lady-blackwings
, 636 dA points (or a 3 month sub) and a 4 image, 1 month feature:
- for Teshura; Hebrew for "gift" (nickname "Tesha")
Thanks so much, Juhani
!! I loved the story behind your Tesha's name and the true meaning of it. It's a beautiful name and quite apt, as this filly is certainly one of the best gifts ever given to me. I will be noting you shortly with details on the prizes, so you can let me know how you'd prefer to receive it and what images you'd like featured. If you'd like to be a donator for future contests, please let me know! The gifted lady-blackwings honored us with her donation for this contest and the next has a future donator in Mistress-0f-Dragons! Anyone is welcome to join in! I'll accept any offer, from features, to points, to literature or art, all are welcome donations.
