Aswang by sweett00th Aswang by sweett00th
Another random sketch but this time I really put effort in the coloring and inking :) but I erased the pencil lines too much that the ink faded though.. = =

Oh well. Anyway, this is my sketch of the Philippine mythical creature, 'Aswang' as it is called in Tagalog or 'Manananggal' in the Visayas :)

This creature looks human by day but at night, they separate from the lower half of their body and then fly into the sky in the hunt for food. From what I've read, they usually prey on unborn babies or the fetuses inside the belly of pregnant mothers. They have a long hollow thin tongue that they use to suck the fetuses from the bellies.... (ewwww) So yeah. I guess this is what they used to explain miscarriages or something? I'm just thinking xD

If you noticed, I tried following :iconrannsama: 's coloring style because she's just so awesome and my idol ^^

Tools/Kagamitan:
Photoshop CS4
0.1 & 0.5 Uni pigment pens
0.5 mechanical pencil
My classmate's graphic tablet xD

Hello! Sorry for the late reply, this isn't my main account anymore so I didn't see this comment. I might be interested. What do you have in mind? :)

They're two different things where I come from...

Aswang can morph in to several animals, play tricks on your mind. And eat people too.

Manananggal is the one that separates the lower half... At least where I come from. Both scary creatures. Nice drawing anyways!

I like the mix of innocence in her face and craziness in her torn flesh. Cool.
