When making a wooden stem do I treat the inside wood? And if I do then could I use mineral oil?
Sweet-Fox-Wings's avatar
I don't treat inside the stem. As for mineral oil, it's sounds ok. But Google pipe making to be sure
KingSexyStudKitty's avatar
I did and found a whole Forum about it they recommended some leather treatment. as for treatment of the stem there was nothing to be found so I left them the same question in as for other treatments on YouTube I see people using mineral oil on things like knife handles and cutting boards so I was thinking if I go food grade mineral oil ...and then of course on the flip side I see people doing what you did with beeswax so now I'm completely confused...

I think at this point you have to choose for your self and decided how you want to build it :)

Well I have been doing that since I started and now that I realize I know (pardon the language) Jack shit about any thing...

Research the type of wood to see if it's safe and I only finish in bees wax to keep it safe as well
KingSexyStudKitty's avatar
How can I figure out what kind of wood is it? Because I just grabbed to pieces out of my scrap Box
Sweet-Fox-Wings's avatar
Can't really help you with that one ^^;

You Know the pipe reminds me of Van Gogh (My Number One Famous Artist)

Van Gogh had a self portrait with a pipe and there was a painting with still life that had a pipe and plus Van Gogh was a heavy smoker
