so how are things with 'you people'? tell me what happened to you this summer or year - its been like half a year since i last wrote a journal, eh...

i am still in istanbul, still living with my boyfriend...  we rented a new flat in january and its quite nice, i have enjoyed furnishing it with IKEA. im working at this web-company, translating, copywriting, project managing and setting up websites (in wordpress currently). life is okay all in all although there are these days that i wonder 'wtf?'. i am still horribly stressed at times, which is something im trying to learn to get rid off but its not easy...  either way, life is quite enjoyable right now, i cannot deny that. needless to say though, i havent been photographing, if i had, u would be the first to know ;)

i still have spotify invitations to anyone interested in a free music streaming service.

also, im sure everyone who is interested is already in Google plus but if not, i can send an invitation for that too.

some links for your enjoyment:
Dark Roasted Blend a website with random funny or interesting posts, photos of pandas and so on...
The Beheld a blog about beauty and feminism
Documentarywire a site linking to various documentaries (youtube etc), good selection

volunteering as an English teacher in a kindergarten in a rural cambodian village next to the Thai border where child paedophilia, prostitution and gambling vices are rampant.

It's an awesome experience that has pushed me and helped me grow...

do you know i have been on DA forever, looked at your work, read your journals..visted your page etc etc...and just now realised that somehow you weren't on my pointlessly long watchlist??

fixed that ;)

hello.

It would be cheeky of me to ask about the googleplus thing, especially since I am largely against all social networking, so I won't. But I was tempted. Anyway. Hello Suzi Nine Em

weĺl, thanks for adding me :)

btw, dA as a site and writing to me on my userpage are both very much about social networking too. u should stick to ppl u know, using email and news sites if u wanna claim being anti-web-social ;)

oh its not 'anti web social' per se...I have been online for years, though chat rooms and anonymous womblings are safely left behind in teenage years, and I am happy meeting new people online as it were....its just the labelled social media sites...I shut down my facebook when I realised a couple of things...first was that my home phone hadn't changed in years so people could have used that, but also that my own mother was sending me messages on it rather than picking up the phone. Its just too...artifcial. DA has a purpose, which is art. Its a net community, rather than social media at its heart I guess :)

The others seem a bit of a ...popular fashion thing, and are being monetised in horrible ways as well as leading to more of a social disconnect than the other ways. Some people have thousands of friends, but spend their birthdays alone in the pub....so I stay away from those. They have no purpose that I can see, beyond communication that woudl be better handled elsewhere. :)

Though, I will have a look at google plus when it starts, to see if that has learned the lessons of myspace and facebook.

my year has sucked so far...i moved back to mexico, broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years, had to leave graphic design because I couldn't afford paying for my studies anymore... I'm still trying to get over that (mostly the bf thing) and struggling with depression.

Still, some good things have happened; I'm losing weight and getting in shape, took a tour guide course and I'm working in a museum as a tour guide and giving small workshops (it doesn't pay the bills though, so I had to go back with my parents till i get a better paying job) and somehow ended up again in University now studying international business. The good thing is that the university is practically free; just a US$20 fee per semester. I feel old at college (i'm 25 going on 26) but oh well... we'll see. I hope I can finish my degree earlier; probably will take some online courses to speed it up...unless I get a better part-time job and takes more time

well a lot has happened then. do u like business better than graphic design? its useful in anything though, so u can just finish it since its cheap, and maybe go back to graphic design later?

i hope u find a better paying job at least :)

sorry about the bf thing, its happened to me too so i can relate.

not really.. I still like graphic design more; but business knowledge can be useful so it's ok... and from time to time there comes some job on design so I haven't left it completely. I'd still like to finish it though; it's quite cheap to study and i could apply some of it if i go back full time to design; or any other project

This year started out really shitty, with me facing being homeless and my girlfriend at the time dumping me. Then i lucked out and an old (now former) friend got in touch with me and made good on a half-a-decade-old promise of employment in the company she worked for.

So I moved across the state and took the job, with the few things I owned at the time. Pretty much just a backpack of clothes and two rifles. Then she screwed everyone over and left town. Even though having someone you thought of like family fucking you over is a pretty shitty feeling, what came after made up for it. She was highly placed in the company, and when she split, the owner cleared house. I was in the right place at the right time to end up with her old job. I'm now excessively overcompensated for my time, and get paid to do the things I love to most(play with knives/guns, sell ammo and dick around). I'm pretty much getting paid middle-class salary for shit I'd do for free!

I'm now living comfortably, out of poverty for the first time in my life. I have everything I want out of life and then some. Turns out that when it's paying for a living, money DOES bring happiness :D

wow, its been very eventful! im happy for u. and its true, money is only not important if u have enough. so, to a point, it can bring some happiness by giving comfort and stability...some things we need basically.

playing with guns and ammo doesnt sound safe though, dont get too fond of them ;)

i hope things continue uphill for ya :)
