so how are things with 'you people'? tell me what happened to you this summer or year - its been like half a year since i last wrote a journal, eh...

i am still in istanbul, still living with my boyfriend...  we rented a new flat in january and its quite nice, i have enjoyed furnishing it with IKEA. im working at this web-company, translating, copywriting, project managing and setting up websites (in wordpress currently). life is okay all in all although there are these days that i wonder 'wtf?'. i am still horribly stressed at times, which is something im trying to learn to get rid off but its not easy...  either way, life is quite enjoyable right now, i cannot deny that. needless to say though, i havent been photographing, if i had, u would be the first to know ;)

i still have spotify invitations to anyone interested in a free music streaming service.

also, im sure everyone who is interested is already in Google plus but if not, i can send an invitation for that too.

some links for your enjoyment:
Dark Roasted Blend a website with random funny or interesting posts, photos of pandas and so on...
The Beheld a blog about beauty and feminism
Documentarywire a site linking to various documentaries (youtube etc), good selection

volunteering as an English teacher in a kindergarten in a rural cambodian village next to the Thai border where child paedophilia, prostitution and gambling vices are rampant.

It's an awesome experience that has pushed me and helped me grow...

do you know i have been on DA forever, looked at your work, read your journals..visted your page etc etc...and just now realised that somehow you weren't on my pointlessly long watchlist??

fixed that ;)

hello.

It would be cheeky of me to ask about the googleplus thing, especially since I am largely against all social networking, so I won't. But I was tempted. Anyway. Hello Suzi Nine Em

weĺl, thanks for adding me :)

btw, dA as a site and writing to me on my userpage are both very much about social networking too. u should stick to ppl u know, using email and news sites if u wanna claim being anti-web-social ;)

oh its not 'anti web social' per se...I have been online for years, though chat rooms and anonymous womblings are safely left behind in teenage years, and I am happy meeting new people online as it were....its just the labelled social media sites...I shut down my facebook when I realised a couple of things...first was that my home phone hadn't changed in years so people could have used that, but also that my own mother was sending me messages on it rather than picking up the phone. Its just too...artifcial. DA has a purpose, which is art. Its a net community, rather than social media at its heart I guess :)

The others seem a bit of a ...popular fashion thing, and are being monetised in horrible ways as well as leading to more of a social disconnect than the other ways. Some people have thousands of friends, but spend their birthdays alone in the pub....so I stay away from those. They have no purpose that I can see, beyond communication that woudl be better handled elsewhere. :)

Though, I will have a look at google plus when it starts, to see if that has learned the lessons of myspace and facebook.

my year has sucked so far...i moved back to mexico, broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years, had to leave graphic design because I couldn't afford paying for my studies anymore... I'm still trying to get over that (mostly the bf thing) and struggling with depression.

Still, some good things have happened; I'm losing weight and getting in shape, took a tour guide course and I'm working in a museum as a tour guide and giving small workshops (it doesn't pay the bills though, so I had to go back with my parents till i get a better paying job) and somehow ended up again in University now studying international business. The good thing is that the university is practically free; just a US$20 fee per semester. I feel old at college (i'm 25 going on 26) but oh well... we'll see. I hope I can finish my degree earlier; probably will take some online courses to speed it up...unless I get a better part-time job and takes more time

well a lot has happened then. do u like business better than graphic design? its useful in anything though, so u can just finish it since its cheap, and maybe go back to graphic design later?

i hope u find a better paying job at least :)

sorry about the bf thing, its happened to me too so i can relate.

not really.. I still like graphic design more; but business knowledge can be useful so it's ok... and from time to time there comes some job on design so I haven't left it completely. I'd still like to finish it though; it's quite cheap to study and i could apply some of it if i go back full time to design; or any other project

This year started out really shitty, with me facing being homeless and my girlfriend at the time dumping me. Then i lucked out and an old (now former) friend got in touch with me and made good on a half-a-decade-old promise of employment in the company she worked for.

So I moved across the state and took the job, with the few things I owned at the time. Pretty much just a backpack of clothes and two rifles. Then she screwed everyone over and left town. Even though having someone you thought of like family fucking you over is a pretty shitty feeling, what came after made up for it. She was highly placed in the company, and when she split, the owner cleared house. I was in the right place at the right time to end up with her old job. I'm now excessively overcompensated for my time, and get paid to do the things I love to most(play with knives/guns, sell ammo and dick around). I'm pretty much getting paid middle-class salary for shit I'd do for free!

I'm now living comfortably, out of poverty for the first time in my life. I have everything I want out of life and then some. Turns out that when it's paying for a living, money DOES bring happiness :D

wow, its been very eventful! im happy for u. and its true, money is only not important if u have enough. so, to a point, it can bring some happiness by giving comfort and stability...some things we need basically.

playing with guns and ammo doesnt sound safe though, dont get too fond of them ;)

i hope things continue uphill for ya :)

They're fun as all hell to shoot things with, and if you're into gunsmithing as a hobby or profession, extremely good time-sinks to get lost in.

Doing a range trip is pretty much my idea of a perfect day off. Especially with friends and bringing lunch.

This year has brought many changes for my girlfriend and I. I've been approved for Social Security and am getting a $733 check every month now. Plus I am entitled to back time and got enough to pay off my car and buy some upgrades for the computer. We have a nice one bedroom apartment and rent is only $164 a month! Life is treating us pretty good it seems....

:) I live in the south, Mississippi. It should go down even more, to around $120! hehehe I am on Social Security now and I am entitled to money going back to my original claim which was like 2 years ago. So I get like $500 x 24 months, tax free. :)

Thanks!! We are very happy too! hehehe

We are on government housing so rent is based on what I bring in each month ($733) so it will go down since that's less than before.

Thank you! I don't have to work since I'm on disability now so I spend my time with my girlfriend! :)

Wow! Nice to see that everything seems to be working out for you (besides the stress and the lack of photographing :() I miss your work!

Everything is fine here... Work is getting more stressful... stupid supervisors making other people clean up their messes... Good thing about stress, though; it can be relieved in so many ways...

I'm still happily married... Trying to get back in to writing. Also, working on getting a new car. I hate having to take the train everywhere... Also, one of my friends and I kinda have this idea to start a photography business... Starting out taking face shots for local actors, then venturing out to other things. Just have to get the money to start and the clientele...

I work for a power company. Customer service is the position, but its more like debt collector... Kinda sucks, but its the best job I could find in the economical nightmare that is America, but it pays the bills and the benefits are okay...

Oh, I am the same way about stress, believe me... That's why I have piercings and tattoos! Takes my mind off of things. Now if only I could afford more! lol

I hope it works out, too... I really wanna get in to it. I should probably get myself a good camera, first... But I was planning on doing most of the managing. I'm good at that. ;)

BTW I figured I should mention that I do take a lot of calls, but I also assist with training new employees and I also manage most of the paperwork that my office handles... And the vast majority of the time I am helping some supervisors by telling them solutions to problems that they should really be able to handle on their own (since, you know, they're supervisors and all...lol).

I'm glad you're doing well! :) I think it's so amazing that you live in Istanbul, it's a city full of culture and I would love to visit it one day.

My life... I'm finally going back to university after a two year break. I'm 24 years old and I think it's full time I got my education taken care of. I'm going for a Major in English with a concentration in writing; I would love to write fiction most but would be content writing just about anything, really. I'm still with the same boyfriend of 3.5 years and I'm saving for a house, as I currently live with my parents... it sucks but I'd rather wait just a little while longer and have a house of my own instead of throwing my money away on rent.

I'm still a dog groomer, and that's pretty much it...

I hope to see some pictures from you soonish, your work always makes me smile. (Even if it also makes me cringe a little from the subject matter.. haha!)

honestly, because of my picture. I don't take pictures of myself and so I wasn't shaved, my hair was a mess. apparently you need to look your best for every shot even if you think you look ok.

uh? so, she took your picture or u finally took a picure of yourself?

also, i think guys dont usually shave for camera but for looking a certain way for job or in general. same with hair and clothes...

so it was just because of the pic and not because she in general was not happy about the way you are ungroomed? the photo might have just underlined her thoughts?

she said she expected something better. and I guess I am not what she was dreaming about. the funny thing is she never asked me what I looked like at all. I guess she just assumed that I would look like brad pit.

well its for the best I guess. I am thinking about taking a picture today with me shaved and my hair combed...just kinda natural, Im in a tshirt with the avengers on it. I think I will make that my deviant id for now just so people can see what the hell I look like lol

uhm, she didnt ask...so your girlfriend was ...across the internet? online-girlfriend? ok.

well, i wish ur heart wasnt broken over that, getting into an online relationship wthout even knowing what the other person looking like, and how they talk, all that stuff...

clearly it wasnt just bout having hair combed, her issues were elsewhere. u can do better than that.
